최근, 고령화, 인구증가, 환경오염, 교통문제 등 다양한 도시문제를 해결하기 위한 대안으로 국내의 UCity개념인 스마트시티가 전 세계적으로 주목받고 있다. 이러한 추세를 반영하여 본 연구에서는 전 세계의 대륙별 스마트시티 구축동향 및 특징을 살펴봄으로써 스마트시티 구축의 세계적 흐름 및 상세현황을 파악하였다. 이를 바탕으로 우리나라가 스마트시티 관련 세계시장에서 선도적 위상과 지위를 가지기 위해 나아가야 할 스마트시티 시장유형별 해외진출 방향을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 향후 우리나라가 스마트시티 세계시장에서의 경쟁력 확보를 위한 중장기적인 기본방향을 정립하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 스마트시티 관련 해외진출시 해당국가에 적합한 맞춤형 수출전략 수립에도 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

Due to recent urban problems such as population aging, increase in population, pollution, transportation problems, and etc, the idea of “smart city,” similar to that of U-city, is attracting many cities worldwide. Considering such worldwide trend, this study analyzes characteristics and build-up trend of wellknown smart cities around the world to comprehend the world trend and detailed conditions. Also, this study proposes the ways in which it can take the lead in the smart city development field and expand overseas by suggesting different types of smart cities to gain our status in the international market. This study also helps us secure international competitiveness in the field of smart city development by providing solid fundamentals, and it helps domestic enterprise establish customized export strategies when we enter the international market of smart city.
