좌파적 기본소득운동은 “자유로운 개인들의 연합”이라는 맑스의 코뮈니즘 원리와 연결될 경우, 과거의 혁명적 대안들과 새로운 개혁적 대안들사이의 대립을 넘어서, 대안사회로의 이행을 매개할 중요한 연결고리로 진화할 수 있다. 2010년 기본한국네트워크가 출범한 이후 전개된 찬반 논쟁을 비교 분석해 보면, 기본소득은 그 자체로 완결될 수 있는 목표가 될 수없다는 점을 확인할 수 있다. 대안사회로의 이행과정은 생산수단의 탈상품화(새로운 공공체의 형성)를 통한 기본소득의 재원 확보가 무조건적/보편적/개별적 기본소득의 지급을 통한 노동력과 자연력의 탈상품화(공통체의 해방)를 촉진하면서 서로를 강화하는 방식으로 선순환 고리를 이루게끔 구성되어야 한다. 그럴 경우 역사적 사회주의의 실패를 넘어서 맑스가 말한 “자유로운 개인들의 연합”으로의 이행이 현실화될 수 있을 것이다.

If the leftist basic income movement in underlying can be connected with the Marx``s principle of communism, “free individuals`` association”, it seems to be able to go beyond the conflict between the revolutionary and the reformist alternatives, and to evolve into an important tie which will mediate the transition process from now to a new alternative society. Comparing the pros-and-cons debates around the basic income movement since the inauguration of Basic Income Korean Network in 2010, it can be confirmed that the basic income by itself cannot be the goal that could be finalized. The transition process toward alternative society must be constructed in a way of virtuous circulation such as that the financial resources of the basic income will be afforded through the de-commercialization of the means of production (formation of the new republic) and the payment of unconditional/universal/individual basic income will strengthen the de-commercialization of labor forces & natural forces (the commons) in a way of mutual positive feedback. So then, “the free individuals`` association”, said by Marx, will be able to be realized beyond the failure of the historical socialism.
