본 연구의 목적은 1950년대부터 1980년대까지의 한국영화에 대한 분석을 통하여 ``여성 주거공간으로서의 아파트``를 고찰하는 것이다. 이는 영화가 당시의 사회상과 건축문화를 필연적으로 반영한다는 점에 기인한 것이며, 아파트라는 주거형식이 여성 사용자들에게 시기별로 어떻게 인식되었는지, 또는 어떠한 의미였는지를 문화적 측면에서 살펴본다는 것을 의미한다. 분석을 위해 해당 시기의 영화 25편이 선정되었으며, 당시 여성 주거공간으로서의 아파트는 1) 고급의 근대공간으로서, 2) 빈곤층 여성의 주거환경으로서, 3) 도시여성의 고독·소외·익명 공간으로서, 그리고 4) 단란한 신혼 공간, 행복의 상징, 동경의 대상으로서 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the ``Apartment Housing as Female Residential Spaces`` represented in Korean films in 1950~80s. It is assumed that films necessarily reflect the social and architectural backgrounds. To investigate the apartments as female residential spaces is to verify in a sociocultural manner of how the apartments were recognized by the women and what it meant to them. For the analysis, a pool of artistically and publicly renowned 25 Korean films was constructed. In these films, the apartments as female residential spaces were represented as: 1) a high-class modern·western space, 2) a residential environment of the poor, 3) a city dweller`s space of loneliness, isolation and anonymity, and 4) a sweet home of a new-married couple, a symbol of happiness, etc.
