연구는 한국 사회의 심각한 문제인 자살에 대한 이해를 제고하고 예방책에 도움을 주기 위해 우울이 자살성을 예측하는데 있어서 지인 자살 경험과 자살 허용적 태도의 조절효과를 살펴보았다. 성균관대학교 서베이리서치센터가 연차적으로 실시한 전국표본조사인 한국종합사회조사(KGSS)의 2009년 자료를 사용하였으며, 만 18세 이상 성인 1543명의 설문자료를 분석하였다. 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 인구통계학적 변수들을 통제한 후, 우울, 지인 자살 경험과 자살 허용적 태도가 자살성을 예측하는지 살펴보고 조절효과를 검증하였다. 분석결과, 성별과 월소득은 자살성을 유의하게 예측하였고, 우울과 지인 자살 경험 및 자살 허용적 태도도 자살성을 유의하게 설명해주어 주효과가 확인되었다. 또한 자살 허용적 태도는 우울이 자살성에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 것으로 나타났으나 지인 자살경험의 조절효과는 유의하지 않았다. 즉, 우울한 사람이 자살 허용적 태도를 가질수록 자살의 위험성이 더 높다는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 상담 장면에서의 적용 가능성 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

In order to enhance our understanding of suicide considered as a social issue in South Korea, this study was to examine the moderating effects of experience of suicide loss and permissive attitude toward suicide on the relationship between depression and suicidality. We analyzed responses of 1543 adults who participated in 2009 Korean General Society Survey. The results of hierarchical regression showed that sex and monthly income significantly predicted suicidality and there were significant main effects of depression, permissive suicide attitude and experience of suicide loss on suicidality. Additionally, permissive suicide attitude moderated the relation between depression and suicidality, but there was no significant moderating effect of experience of suicide loss. That is, if one have a higher level of permissive suicide attitude, the effect of depression on suicidality increases. Based on findings, implications for counseling practice and future research were discussed.
