본 연구는 교산 허균의 산문 중 논(論)을 분석하여 그 문학 교육적 가치를 탐색해 보고자 했다. 교산은 논이라는 글의 장르적 특성을 잘 활용하여 조선 사회의 모순을 날카롭게 비판하면서 위정자 특히 왕으로부터의 개혁을 주장하였다. 나아가 지배 계급을 향한 경고의 행간을 통해 백성들에게 ‘모순된 현실에 저항하고, 부당한 압력에 맞서서 대응하는 호민(豪民)이 되라’고 추동(推動)하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 다시 말해 교산은 자신의 생각을 논에 고스란히 담아내며 백성을 다스림이 대상이 아니라 나라의 근본으로 여겨야 한다는 민본사상을 바탕으로 조선 사회의 기존 체제를 신랄하게 비판하며 이를 개혁할 것을 주장하고 있는 것이다. 이러한 비판적이고 개혁적인 사유 방식과 이를 설득력 있게 표현하는 교산의 글쓰기 방식은 오늘날 문학교육에도 시사하는 바가 크다고 본다. <유재론(遺才論)>, <호민론(豪民論)> <관론(官論)> 등에서 보여준 그의 사고 범위와 자신의 주장의 정당성을 입증하는 글쓰기 방식은 대단히 논리적이다. 또한 전통적 사고유형과 고정 관념에서 벗어나 새로운 발견과 지각(知覺)하여 쓴 교산의 논은 꽤 창의적이라 할 만하다. 따라서 교산의 논(論)을 통해서 비판적 사고력과 창의성, 논리성을 탐색하며 그 교육적 가치를 연구하였다.

This study aimed to analyze Non (논, 論) among proses by Gyosan (교산, 蛟山) Heo Gyun (허균, 許筠) and to investigate the educational value of his literature. Gyosan sharply criticized the discrepancy in the society of Joseon (조선, 朝鮮) with full use of genre characteristics of Non and insisted on reformation from the policy-maker, that is to say, a king. Furthermore, it can be seen that he urged the people to ‘become wealthy and powerful people (호민, 豪民) who resist the contradictory reality and face undue pressure’ by warning ruling classes. In other words, Based on his democratic idea that the people should be considered not as a target to be governed but as a basis of the nation, Gyosan put his thought into Non and insisted on reformation by strongly criticizing the existing system of the society of Joseon. It is considered that critical and reformatory thinking style and Gyosan``s writing style with persuasive expression have significant implications for literature education today. His writing style to prove the legitimacy of the range of his thought and his insistence shown in his works such as Yujaeron (유재론, 遺才論), Hominron (호민론, 豪民論), and Gwanron (관론, 官論) are substantially logical. In addition, it can be said that Gyosan`s Non is quite creative because it was written with a new discovery and perception away from traditional way of thinking and stereotypes. Therefore, through Gyosan`s Non, this study explored critical thinking skills, creativity, and logicality and examined its educational value.
