이 논문은 네트워크 분석 방법을 활용하여, 국내 작문 연구의 동향 및 지적 구조를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존의 연구 동향 분석들이 대체로 연구자의 주관적 판단에 의거하여 이루어졌던 것과 달리, 양적 분석을 통해 판단의 근거를 마련함으로써 작문 연구 동향에 대해 해석하고 제언하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위하여, 국어교육 및 작문교육 관련 네 개 학술지의 2009년부터 2014년까지의 작문 관련 논문 293편을 대상으로 주제어들을 추출하여 빈도 분석과 동시출현단어 분석을 실시하였다. 한편, 이를 기반으로 하여 패스파인더 네트워크 및 최근접 이웃 클러스터링 기법으로 관계를 분석하고, 삼각매개중심성과 최근접이웃중심성 내역을 통해 주제어들의 영향력을 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 국내 작문 연구의 지적 구조와 관련하여, 다음과 같은 제언들을 이끌어내었다. 첫째, 주제어 빈도에서 월등히 높은 비중을 차지하는 ‘평가’는 상대적으로 전역 중심성 지수가 낮게 나왔다는 점에서 더욱 광범위한 주제들과 결합될 필요가 있었다. 둘째, ‘교육과정’ 주제어가여타의 작문 연구 영역 주제어들과 다소 괴리된 연구 양상을 보였다는 점에서 국가 수준 교육과정 이외의 다양한 층위의 교육과정 논의들이 필요하다고 판단되었다. 셋째, 대학작문 영역을 비롯하여 대체로 많은 하위 연구 주제들의 양적 질적 다양화가 이루어졌으나, 연구 주제들 간의 개념적 흐름이 다소 단절되는 경향이 있으므로 전체 연구 지형도에 대한 고려가 더욱 요구 되었다.

This paper aims to use network analysis on the intellectual structure of domestic writing research trends. Existing studies on writing research trends have made an interpretation by researchers’ dispositional judgement. This study attempts to offer a more objective, quantitative analysis. For this purpose, 293 articles on writing research from 4 journals from 2009 to 2014 were collected and their keywords extracted to conduct a frequency analysis and a co-word analysis. Their relationships were then analyzed by the algorithms of Pathfinder Networks (PFNets) and Parallel Nearest Neighbor Clustering (PNNC). A comparison between Triangle Betweenness Centrality and Nearest Neighbor Centrality also analyzed their global and local influences. Our proposals for domestic writing research in terms of the analysis and its result are as follows: first, “writing evaluation” has to be combined with a greater variety of writing research subdomains; second, various levels of “curriculum” apart from the national level need to be more considered in the domain of writing research; third, despite quantitative and qualitative growth, subdomains of writing research require more consideration with regard to the conceptual flow of the whole map as they tend to be disconnected with each other.
