언어 습득에 있어서 발음의 중요성에 대한 인식이 이미 널리 퍼져 있음에도 불구하고 언어 교육 분야에서 발음 영역에 대한 연구는 비교적 활발하지 않다. 이는 외국어로서의 한국어 교육 분야에서도 예외가 아니며,그 결과 한국어 학습자 및 교사에게 활용 가능한 한국어 발음 교재 역시 매우 제한적으로만 존재한다.최근 질적인 면에서 큰 발전을 이룬 일부 한국어 발음 교재들이 출간되기는 하였으나,비교적 긴 언어 교육 역사를 지닌 타ㅍ 언어 학습 교재들과의 비교를 통해 한국어 발음 교재의 추가적인 개선 방향을 모색해 볼 수 있을 것이다.이에 본고에서는 외국어로서의 한국어,영어,프랑스어의 발음 교재 중 대표적인 일부교재들을 선정하여 하위 영역 구성,각 단원 구성,연습문제 유형,학습 보조 자료 등 네 가지 관점에서 교재들을 비교.분석하고 이를 통해 한국어 발음 교재의 개선 방향을 도출하였다.분석 결과,초분절적 요소에 대한 교육 내용 보완,학습자 중심의 학습 지향,확장된 맥락 제시 측면에서 추가적인 개선의 여지를 확인하고 그 구체적인 개선 방향을 제시하였다.

Although the importance of pronunciation in language acquisition has been well established, pronunciation teaching has drawn the least attention in the field of language education. Teaching Korean pronunciation is no exception, resulting in only a few types of materials available to Korean learners and instructors. Recently, there were a couple of published Korean materials which have made some progress in quality, but teaching resources for other languages should provide a higher benchmark for improving Korean teaching materials. This study closely looks into three selected pronunciation materials - Korean, English and French - and conducts a comparative analysis of contents configuration, composition by chapter, types of drills, and ancillary resources. The analysis illustrates that there is still room for improvement in existing Korean pronunciation materials in areas such as encompassing supra-segmental aspects of pronunciation, adopting learner-oriented approach, and presenting examples in richer and more extended context.
