본고는 미즈무라 미나에(1951~)의 세 번째 작품인 『본격소설(本格小說)』(2002)을 중심으로 텍스트 속에 나타난 사소설적 요소와 ‘메타픽션(meta-fiction)’적 요소를 고찰했다. 텍스트는 ‘나 = 미즈무라 미나에 = 작가’라는 ‘사소설’적 성격의 서두를 이용하여 1인칭 서술자의 시점으로 소설을 이끌어가다가 실제 소설의 내용인 내부 액자 텍스트로 들어가는데, 이 과정에서 다중 서술자에 의한 액자 서술이라는 다층적 서술구조가 형성되며, 이러한 장치가 텍스트에 리얼리티와 신빙성을 부여하게 된다. 작가는 ‘사소설’의 화자이자 주인공으로 자신을 직접 등장시켜, 픽션인 ‘본격소설’ 속에 ‘사소설’의 ‘진실의 환상’을 적용한다. 또한 작중화자의 직업을 ‘소설가’로 설정하고 책 자체나 책 쓰는 일, 책의 집필 과정 등을 묘사하면서 글쓰기의 본질을 탐구하고 자기 자신에 대해서 설명하는 ‘메타픽션’ 기법을 사용하여 내부 이야기에 하나의 층위를 더하여 두 겹의 내부액자와 하나의 외부액자로 구성했으며, 내부액자와 외부액자의 에피소드는 서로 연동한다. 이를 통해 ‘나’의 이야기는 강한 리얼리티를 느끼게 하고 작가가 된 ‘나’가 세 번째 소설을 집필하면서 어려움을 겪는 부분을 텍스트내에서 묘사함으로써 ‘소설쓰기에 관한 소설’, ‘다시 쓰기로서의 소설’이라는 이 작품의 성격을 뚜렷하게 드러내준다. 내부 액자의 내용은 ‘들은 이야기’라는 성격과 함께 리얼리티를 확보하는 또 하나의 층위로서 기능한다. 또한 텍스트의 다층적 서술구조는 다양한 서술 시점의 추가로 고전적이고 진부한 이야기에 리얼리티를 확장시킨다. 『본격소설』을 구성하는 두 이야기의 상호 침투성은 1부의 자전적 서사에서 나온 ‘소설 같은 이야기’를 둘러싸는 액자구성을 취하고 있으며 ‘이야기’를 듣는 구조들이 여러 겹으로 겹쳐 있다. 마지막으로 ‘나’가 텍스트 바깥에서 이야기를 정리함에 따라, 작가의 목소리는 등장인물들의 목소리 뒤로 위치하게 됨을 알 수 있다.

This paper is a study about A true Novel(2002) by Minae Mizumura, focused on factors of ``I-Novel`` and meta-fiction in whole text. The writer used factors of ``I-Novel`` in the prologue(outside frame), and the story unfolded in inside frame. through that process, there are over two narrators in multiple narration. Each narrator views the object of text and narrates it his(her) point of view. Multiple narration is classified into two categories - multi-layer multiple narration and multilateral multiple narration. Multi-layer multiple narration divides superior narrator and subordinate narrators. The former relay and regulate the latter``s narration. Multilateral multiple narration``s narrators describe same object of narration all over, describe to take a part of same object respectively. But there are both of multi-layer multiple narration and multilateral multiple narration in A True Novel, and readers can find intertextuality from that text. Also, this paper is a study of a meta-fiction. Meta-fiction is a novel which can see where the border between readers and writers, reality and fiction is. There is a multi-layered narration structure what has a style of rahmaennovell. But A True Novel is different from general meta-fiction a little, because it has multiple layers outside the novel and multiple stories inside frame. And that all strategies of writer built up reality of the text.
