This study proposes the Small Scale Test(SST) model that allows students to experience taking an essay and speaking test for college entrance adapted from KSAT data interpretation type questions. This model is focused on the process rather than results, and teaching rather than assessment. The SST model does not have as much reliability and validity as large-scale tests, because it is designed for students to write an essay after their data interpretation and to give a verbal description. Instead, the SST has the advantage of offering integrated teaching of three language skills - reading, writing, and speaking; students also experience reduced assessment. The usefulness of the SST model is verified by research on a subject group of 42 students and evaluation by an expert group of 5 assessors. This model is applicable to speech and composition classes as well as essay and speaking tests for school.
