지오드로잉은 모바일 위치 데이터 기록을 이용하여 미적인 표현을 시도한 미디어 아트를 가리킨다. 기존의 지오드로잉은 대개 공간에서의 이동에만 초점을 두어 개인의 독특한 관점과 무관한 객관화된 궤적을 ‘선’으로 재현하는 데 그쳤다. 이와 대조하여, 본 논문은 개인의 자발적 행위에 의해 형성된 주관적 체험의 ‘장소성’이 강조되는 현상학적 공간성에 대한 예술적 표현을 탐색한다. 이를 위해 먼저, 장소, 시간, 분위기 면에서 공간이 갖는 현상학적 의미를 분석하고, 그 결과 스마트폰 카메라 기반 사진적 행위가 현상학적으로 의미 있는 중요한 장소 경험임을 개념화한다. 그런 개념에 기초하여 본 논문은 새로운 방식의 지오드로잉 작품 를 제안 하며, 이는 특정 장소에서의 사진적 행위를 ‘점’의 표현에 반영하고, 장소, 시간, 분위기의 변화를 점을 잇는 선과 면의 그래디언트 색상으로 묘사한다. 최종 작품은 지표가 되는 점들의 연결이 형성한 ‘하루’의 다각형과, 여러 ‘하루’들이 중첩된 다각형들을 창작자이자 감상자에게 보여준다. 이를 통해 본 논문은 내재적 공간 경험의 흔적으로서의 현상학적 모바일 지오드로잉의 새로운 예술적 표현을 제시한다.

The term ‘geodrawing’ indicates a kind of media art attempting aesthetic expression using the records of mobile location data. Existing geodrawing works mostly focus on moving in space and thus end up portraying ‘line’ as an objectified trajectory while ignoring person’s specific perspective. In contrast to that, this paper investigates artistic expression on phenomenological spatiality that emphasizes the ‘placeness’ of subjective experience formed by user’s voluntary behavior at some place. We first analyzes the meaning of phenomenological space in terms of place, time, and mood, and as the result, smartphone camera based ‘photographic act’ is pointed out as person’s important, phenomenologically meaningful experience of placeness. Based on that, we propose a novel geodrawing work where a ‘vertex’ reflects user’s photographic act at some place, and gradient color transformation between points reveals spatio-temporal and mood flow. The final output of our geodrawing constructs a polygon of ‘one day’ by connecting the points signifying spatial indices, and an overlapping shape of polygons representing several ‘one day’s is shown to the viewer who was the originator as well. As the result, this paper presents unprecedented kind of phenomenological mobile geodrawing art as the trace of human’s intrinsic spatial experience.
