본 연구에서는 중.장년 기혼여성을 대상으로 생활스트레스와 화병간의 관계에서 내외통제성을 통한 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음의 매개된 조절효과를 확인하였다. 이를 위해 369명의 중.장년 기혼여성을 대상으로 생활 스트레스, 내외통제성, 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음, 화병을 측정하였고, SPSS Macro를 사용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음이 생활스트레스와 화병간의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내외통제성이 생활스트레스와 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 내적통제성이 낮은 경우 생활스트레스가 높으면 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음이 약화되지만, 내적통제성이 높은 경우 생활스트레스가 높으면 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음이 오히려 더 강해졌다. 셋째, 생활스트레스가 화병에 미치는 영향에서 내외통제성을 통한 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음의 매개된 조절효과가 나타났다. 즉, 내적통제성이 낮은 사람은 생활스트레스가 높으면 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음이 약화되어 화병에 취약하지만, 내적통제성이 높은 사람은 생활스트레스가 높다 하더라도 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음이 강하여 화병에 취약하지 않다는 것이다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 기여도, 후속연구를 위한 제언, 그리고 상담적 함의를 논의하였다.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the role of belief in a just world(BJW) in underlying the relationship between life stresses and Hwa-byung(HB). In addition, the ability of internal-external locus of control to serve as a moderator between life stresses and BJW was examined. Among a sample of 369 middled-age or older married women in Korea, mediated moderation analyses using SPSS Macro revealed the following results. First, BJW mediated the relationship between life stresses and HB. Second, internal-external locus of control moderated the relationship between life stresses and BJW. For those with low levels of internal locus of control, great life stresses weakened BJW, while for those with high levels of internal locus of control, great life stresses facilitated BJW. Third, the interaction of life stresses and internal-external locus of control influenced HB through BJW, which supported the mediated moderation effect of BJW through internal-external locus of control. That is, I when the level of life stresses is high, people with low internal locus of control have weaker BJW, and are, thus, vulnerable to HB, while people with high internal locus of control are not vulnerable to HB because their BJW is not weak. Based on these findings, the limitations and implications of the study were discussed.
