본 연구는 주민학습과 실천으로 지속가능한 마을만들기가 진행되고 있는 성북구 장수마을을 사례로 분석함으로써, 마을만들기의 지속가능성 확립에 관한 시사점을 도출하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 지속가능한 마을만들기 요소를 사회적 지속성, 경제적 지속성, 환경적 지속성 등으로 구분하였다. 분석결과, 장수마을은 마을학교, 소식지, 마을기금, 주민협의회 운영회의, 마을기업, 주민협정, 주민 소모임 등을 통해서 장수마을의 지속성과 자립성을 확보하고 있었다. 특히, 마을학교, 주민협의회 운영회의, 마을기업 등의 운영은 지속가능한 마을만들기 실천을 위한 선순환적 기반으로 작용하고 있었다. 마을만들기에서 지속가능성 확립을 위한 시사점은 3가지로 요약된다. 첫째, 학습, 의사결정, 실천과정으로 이어지는 선순환적 기반을 마련하는 것이 중요하다. 둘째, 마을 공동체 프로그램과 주민 소모임 등을 통한 마을의 지속성을 확보해야 할 것이다. 셋째, 마을기금과 주민협정 등을 통한 마을의 자립성을 확보하는 것이 필요하다.

This study aims at analyzing the Jangsu village community planning and then looking for implications for the sustainable in the community planning through resident learning and practice. The case of Jangsu village community planning in Seongbuk-gu were selected for this study. This study suggests, the following policy implications for the sustainable in the community planning. First, it is important to establish a virtuous cycle leading to the learning, decision-making and practice courses. Second, it`s need to make a sustainable village through community program and residents` small meeting. residents autonomous space is important for the practice of residential autonomy and resident autonomy empowerment. Third, village fund and resident appointment are need for sustainable resident autonomy of the community planning.
