이 연구는 제주방언 평서문과 의문문에서의 억양구 경계성조의 특성을 살피고, 현재 서울방언과 제주방언의 차이를 운율적인 측면에서 고찰하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 제주 방언 20대 남성화자 20명을 대상으로 ‘-언/안, -으멘’으로 끝나는 평서문과 의문문 문장의 발화 말 억양구 경계성조를 분석하였다. 평서문과 의문문에 실린 경계성조의 유형을 분석하였을 때, 서울방언과는 달리 제주방언의 경우 평탄억양에 비해 굴곡억양이 많이 사용되는 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 설명의문문과 판정의문문의 경우 두 의문문의 구별에서는 서울방언과 공통점을 확인할 수 있었다. 즉, 서울방언과 제주방언 모두에서 설명의문문의 경계성조가 주로 저조로 실현되며 판정의문문의 경우 경계성조가 주로 고조로 실현되었다. 또한, 음높이의 변화폭과 상승억양의 기울기값, 음운구 해지와 같은 특성이 판정의문문과 설명의문문을 구별해주는 단서가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 앞으로 이연구에서 분석한 자료 외에 제주 방언에서만 사용되는 다양한 어미들에 대한 연구가 이루어지면 제주 방언 억양의 특징을 종합적으로 고찰할 수 있을 것이다.

This aim of this paper was to analyze the intonation of the predicate and interrogative endings ``дn/an`` and ``шmεn`` of native Jeju speakers in their 20s. . When analyzing the types of boundary tones found in declarative and interrogative sentences, it was confirmed that in the Jeju dialect contour tones are more commonly used than level tones, unlike in the Seoul dialect. Despite speakers in their 20s being aware that phonological features are disappearing in their modern dialect, through this research it has become known that prosodic features are in fact still being retained in the Jeju dialect. Moreover, common features between the Jeju and Seoul dialects were identified in two types of interrogative sentences: wh-questions have mostly low tones, and yes-no questions have high tones. In addition, the variable breadth, inclination of rising intonation, dephrasing and other similar features of pitch serve as useful hints in differentiating between yes-no questions and wh-questions in the Jeju dialect.
