본고는 왕조교체의 관점으로 <몽옥쌍봉연록>(이하 <몽옥>)의 서사 실현방식과 의미를 살펴보았다. <몽옥>은 주인공 장홍이 자신의 나라(안남)에서 왕이 된다는 점에서 여타 왕조교체형 영웅소설과 변별성을 가진다. 그러나 작가는 정치한 서사 방식을 통해 역모로 볼 수 있는 이 왕조교체과정을 ‘세탁’하였으며 왕조교체를 성공시켰다. 첫째, 작가는 주인공 장홍이 천명을 가지고 태어났다는 설정을 하였고, 둘째,참요에 숨어 있는 트릭을 활용하였으며, 셋째, 임금이 될 수 있는 조건은 민족이나 혈통에 있는 것이 아니라 인정과 왕도의 실현에 있다고 주장한 왕통의 철학사상을 수용하였다. <몽옥>은 비록 안남의 외피를 입고 서사를 전개하였으나 조선의 독자를 대상으로 한 작품임을 고려하면, 결국은 조선을 빗댄 것이라고 할 수밖에 없다. 따라서 <몽옥>은 조선 사람의 왕조 교체의 열망을 담고 있으며 왕조교체의 구체적인 방법까지 제시한 과감한 작품이라 할 수 있다. 심재의 유민의식은 일제에 대한 제주무장항쟁의 실패에서 비롯한 것이었다. 이런 유민의식으로 심재는 조선의 성대했던 기억을 돌아보았다. 제주에 관한 저술은 기존의 시각을 전환하면서 제주에 대한 애정을 담았다는 점에서 그 의미를 확인할 수 있었다. 하지만 그의 저술은 몇 구절을 제외하고는 조선시대에 국한되어 있는데, 이는 심재저술의 한계라고 할 수 있다.

In the first, the write made an set that Janghong was born with Heaven`s Order. second, took advantage of the tricks that were hiding in the Prophetic Song. third, acceptted the philosophical thought of wangtong who assertted the Conditions that could be the king is not in ethnic or bloodline but ``the rule of right``. Although the narrative of was beside in a coat of annam, when we consider the truth that the reader of this novel is joseon dynasty people, we can got some conclusion that this novel is allude to an story of the joseon dynasty. On that account, is a daring novel that included the aspirations of dynasty replacement from Joseon Dynasty people, and presented some ways about how to changing the dynasty.
