본 연구는 중학교 국어 교과서 16종 및 고등학교 ‘독서와 문법’ 교과서 6종의 음운 변동 목록과 범주화 방식을 비교하여 그 경향을 살펴보고 적절한 목록과 범주화 방식을 제안하였다. 음운 변동의 유형 구분은 중학교에서는 대체로 ‘음절의 끝소리 규칙, 동화, 탈락과 축약’이었는데, 중학교도 고등학교와 같이 ‘교체, 탈락, 축약, 첨가’로 통일하고 자음군 단순화를 탈락에 포함하는 것이 바람직하다. 사잇소리 현상과 경음화는 중학교에서는 다루지 않고 고등학교에서는 다루는 편이었다. 두음법칙, 모음조화, ㅣ 모음 역행동화는 중ㆍ고등학교 모두 거의 다루지 않으나, 고등학교에서 ‘기타’로 처리할 것을 제안한다. 음절의 끝소리 규칙은 용어를 유지하되, 자음군 단순화를 제외한 평폐쇄음화만 포함하는 것이 좋다. 모음 축약은 현재 중.고등학교 모두 포함시키고 있으나, 축약의 예로 아주 적절하지는 않다. 교육할 음운 변동의 목록을 선정하는 기준은 어문 규범 내 등장 여부나 수의성, 공시성 중 어느 하나로 정할 것이 아니라 학습과 관련된 여러 요소를 고려하여 판단해야 한다.

The purpose of this study was to observe the trend of selecting phonological changes by comparing lists and categorization of them in the middle and high school textbooks. The research questions are the followings. 1. How are the phonological changes classified? 2. Do the textbooks include ‘Saitsori’, Tensification, Initial Laws, Vowel Harmony, ㅣ Retro－assimilation? 3. What are the appropriate terms for phonological changes? 4. What are the appropriate examples of Deletion? The phonological changes are roughly classified into ``Korean Coda Rule, Assimilation, Deletion & Contraction`` in middle school textbooks, on the other hand, into ``Substitution, Deletion, Contraction, Insertion`` in highschool textbooks. It is desirable to unify the classification as the way of highschool textbooks. ‘Saitsori’ and Tensification are introduced in highschool but not in middle school. Initial Laws, Vowel Harmony, ㅣ Retro－assimilation are rarely discussed in both sides. The term ‘Vowel Contraction’ is widely used, but it is not suitable for the example of Contraction. The criterion for phonological changes for education should be set by not only simple element such as optionality, synchronicity or presence in Eomungyujeong.
