대학에서의 글쓰기 관련 교육은 대학 교양교육의 기본이자 핵심이다. 이와 같은 추세에서 글쓰기 교육과 관련된 연구와 논의가 적지 않았지만 지금까지는 주로 재학생 기준 1만 명 이상의 대규모 대학의 사례를 중심으로 이루어져 왔다. 이 논문은 중소규모 대학에서 어떻게 하면 글쓰기 교과를 효과적으로 잘 운영할 수 있을까 하는 방안을 찾아보려고 하였다. 먼저 글쓰기 운영은 현 상황에서는 대학과 학과를 연결하는 유연성(flexibility)을 가진 학부 체제로 하는 것이 현실적인 방안이라고 보지만, 궁극적으로는 단과대학 또는 기초교육원과 같은 독립적인 원 체제로 가야 함을 제시하였다. 글쓰기 강좌의 수강학생의 규모는 중소규모의 많은 대학에서 40명 이상의 수강 학생을 놓고 강의가 이루어지고 있는 현실이다. 그러나, 제대로 된 글쓰기 교육을 위해서는 30명 이하로 수강 인원을 조정하여야 함을 주장하며 이에 대해서는 학교 당국의 의지와 교수자의 노력이 있어야 할 것으로 보인다. 글쓰기 정규 교과의 부족한 부분을 보완하기 위해서 글쓰기 센터 또는 클리닉 클리닉의 운영이 필요한데 중소규모 대학에서는 인적 자원의 조달에 어려움이 있다고 보아 첨삭 조교보다는 글쓰기 튜터 제도의 도입이 필요함을 논하였다. 또한 글쓰기 튜터를 위한 교육을 각 학교와 관련 학회에서 실시할 것을 제안하였다.

The writing-related education at university is the basic and core of liberal arts college education. Research related to the writing training education so far has been made of the case of a large-sized university. This paper has tried to find ways to operate effectively could be better if we do the writing course operating in small and medium-sized university. First, the current situation in the writing course operating is realistic to plan to department system, with the flexibility to connect universities and departments. But ultimately it has to go to an independent faculty systems, such as college or institute. In many of small and medium-sized universities, writing courses has more than 40 students. However, it should adjust the class size less than 30 people to the proper writing training. For this it seems to be the will of lecturers and the efforts to be followed. The operation of the writing center or writing clinic is needed to supplement the regular curriculum of writing course. But in small and medium-sized universities have difficulties in the procurement of human resources. Therefore, it is necessary the introduction of writing tutor system. Accordingly, we propose that education be conducted for writing tutor in each school and the relevant Association.
