본 연구는 가정형편이 어려운 지역아동센터 이용 청소년을 대상으로 장래희망 설계경험을 심층적으로 이해하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 3곳의 지역아동센터 이용 10명의 청소년에게 자신의 장래희망에 대한 설계 경험을 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 방식으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 연구 참여자들은 어릴 적 긍정적인 경험을 통해 잠시 꿈꿔봤던 직업과 자신의 재능을 인정해 주는 주변인을 만났을 경우 어릴 적부터 지금까지 변하지 않는 직업으로 장래희망이 형성되었다. 이렇게 형성된 장래희망은 내가 갖고 있는 걱정과 내가 해결할 수 없는 걱정 등을 현실에서 경험하였으나, 가족이나 주변사람의 관심과 본인 스스로의 노력에 의해 극복하고자 하였다. 이 같은 결과는 빈곤 청소년을 대상으로 장래희망 설계경험에 대한 국내연구가 거의 없는 상태에서 비슷한 배경을 가진 이들의 시각을 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(Focus Group Interview) 방식인 질적 연구를 통해 양적 연구의 한계를 보완하고 이들 빈곤 청소년을 사회가 돌봐야 하는 약자가 아닌 ‘예비 경제인’으로 바라보는 인식 전환에 도움을 주었다는 것에 의의가 있다. 그러나세 곳의 지역아동센터 이용 청소년만을 연구대상으로 하였다는 한계를 갖고 있어 차후 연구대상을 포괄적으로 포함하는 후속연구가 필요하다. 마지막으로 이들 빈곤 청소년의 장래희망에 대한 관심 제고의 필요성, 센터의 실제적인 개입 방안과 진로 및 직업개발에 필요한 내용을 제도 및 실천 차원으로 제언하였다.

This study is complemented targeted the youth group utilizing the service of community centers in order to profoundly understand the planning for their future. To do this research the experience of future planning of ten young students who are using the services from three community centers was analysed in a way of focus group interview. The result of this study showed that the formation of the participants’ dreaming jobs are not only the ones they have been wishing through positive memory and experience made when they were young but also they tend to keep the same dreaming jobs as they used to dream when they meet someone who recognizes and understands their talents. Their dream formed like this has been established even if it might face conflicts due to concerns caused in reality. This result has a meaning in terms that it helped change of recognition that our society complement the limitation of quantitative research through qualitative study that is done by focus group interview even though there is few national former study for future dream targeted young people in poverty and looks these young students in poverty as more of ‘preliminary agents of economic activity rather than as a weak group to be cared by. However, this study has been conducted to only three community centers so it is necessary to do further study including comprehensive target group. Lastly, it has been suggested into institutional and practical step that society needs to improve its interest for the dream of poverty youth, the practical way of centers’ involvement, and the contents that needs for future path and job development of general teenagers.
