This study aims to investigate the vocabularies representing a person``s character and personality among the entries in the existing dictionaries of onomatopoeia and mimetic words, reclassify them as more systematic and rational semantic domain. In Chapter 2, the personality was chosen discussing about words representing the character and the mimetic words representing the personality were named as the symbolic words. In Chapter 3, the entries in the existing dictionaries of mimetic words were dealt with and the reason why those entires needed to be reclassified. In Chapter 4, the reclassification of the symbolic words representing the person``s character and personality was proposed. In Chapter 5, the content of this study was comprehensively organized; the significance of the study was unveiled; and the conclusion were made through suggesting the limits of the study and the necessity of follow-up studies.
