모빌리티는 사람, 사물 및 정보의 이동과 이동에 내재하는 의미와 실천이다. 본 연구의 목적은 모빌리티의 의미를 패러다임의 발전 과정을 통해 알아보고, 모빌리티 접근의 지리학적 적용 가능성을 탐색하기 위한 것이다. 최근 국내 지리학에서 관계를 강조한 연구가 시도되고 있으나, 아직 관계에 대한 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 모빌리티 렌즈는 모빌리티의 구성과 실천을 관계성과 교차성의 맥락에서 접근한다. 모빌리티 렌즈는 모빌리티에 내재하는 의미를 강조하는데, 의미 없는 모빌리티는 단순한 이동에 불과하다고 인식한다. 모빌리티는 다양한 정치와 권력 관계의 결과이다. 모빌리티 관점이 지리학에 기여하는 바는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모빌리티 관점은 지리학이 결정론적이고 거대담론 의존적 구조에서 벗어나는데 기여한다. 둘째, 모빌리티 관점은 시간과 공간을 동시적으로 고려하는 장점을 지닌다. 셋째, 모빌리티 관점은 이동과 정주를 동시적으로 고려하는 관계지리학을 지향한다.

Mobility is the movement, and the meaning and practice of movement by people, material and information. The purpose of this study is to understand the meaningful meanings of mobility through mobility paradigm, and to consider the possibility of mobility perspectives in geography. In recent year, several studies in the geography of Korea have emphasized on relations, however it is not yet fully used in the geography. Mobility lens emphasizes on the composition and practice of mobility with the context of relationality and intersectionality. Mobility lens put emphasis on the embedded meaning of movement, without meaning mobility is nothing but movement. Mobility is the result of various politics and power relations. Mobility perspective contributes on the epistemology of geography in several points. First, mobility perspective provides the perception to overcome the dependence upon deterministic and meta discourse. Second, mobility perspective stimulates to consider time and space simultaneously. Third, mobility perspective orients into the relational geography which considers together movement and settlement process.
