This article aims to compare and analyse the contents and the forms of the two lettets, 「the letter sent again after 19days(後十九日復上書)」by Han Yu(韓愈) and 「the letter of petition for Sir Li Yijian(上門下李夷簡相公陳情書」by Liu Zongyuan(柳宗元). The two letters are similar in the contents of theawareness of the realistic situation, the view of an ideal politician, and the perspercive of men in power. Though, those are different in the attitude toward the perspective of men in power. Though, those are different in the attitude toward the conclusion of the comparison, the attitude toward self and society, and the conclusion of the comparison, the attitude toward self and society, and the attitude toward self and power. Through the contents of the letters, we can discover the view of “self”and “world” on Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan. Futhermore, we can also find that the letter of Han Yu tends to be Rational, while that of Liu Zongyuan tends to be emotional.
