이 연구는 담화통합 관련 선행 연구를 비판적으로 검토하고 외국인 대학생과 내국인 대학생의 담화통합 과제의 수행 양상을 비교함으로써, 외국인 대학생의 학술적 텍스트 산출 능력을 신장시킬 수 있는 담화통합 과제의 전략을 구체화하는 데 목적이 있다. 담화통합 과제의 전략은 참고 자료를 통해 상호텍스트적 지식을 구성하고, 구성한 상호텍스트적 지식을 조작하고 발전시켜 독창적 지식을 구성할 수 있는 지식 구성 전략과 상호작용 전략으로 이루어지는데 이러한 전략을 작동시키는 기제는 주제이다. 외국인 대학생과 내국인 대학생의 담화통합 과제수행 양상을 비교한 결과, 외국인 대학생은 상호텍스트적 지식 구성 전략의 사용에서 미숙함을 보였다. 독창적 지식 구성 전략의 사용에서는 외국인과 내국인 대학생 모두 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 상호작용 전략과 관련해 외국인 대학생은 거시 명제의 사용이 미숙했다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 외국인 대학생들에게 자신들의 문제와 문제 해결 전략을 제시한 결과 다시 쓰기에서는 대부분의 문제가 해결되었다. 특히 해석을 통한 독창적 지식 구성하기 전략은 매우 성공적으로 사용되고 있었다. 이를 통해 이 연구에서 제안하는 담화통합 과제의 전략이 교육적으로 의의가 있음을 확인하였다.

This paper aims to materialize strategies of discourse synthesis tasks that can help international students enhance their abilities to produce academic texts by examining the existing researches on discourse synthesis and comparing how international and domestic students perform discourse synthesis tasks. The strategy of discourse synthesis tasks is composed of knowledge constructionstrategies in which the writer constructs intertextual knowledge with reference texts and then produce creative knowledge by handling and developing the intertextual knowledge, and interaction strategies. The mechanism of implementing these strategies is based on a theme. While performing the task, international students were not skilled in using intertextual knowledge construction strategies. And both international and domestic students displayed the lack of use in creative knowledge construction strategies. For interaction strategies, international students were not good at using macroproposition. Based on the analysis, we explained the problems students had and problem-solving strategies. In the second task, most of the problems were disappeared.Expecially, they were using creative knowledge construction strategies through interpretation successfully. These results prove the value of using strategies of discourse synthesis tasks as suggested in this paper.
