본고는 헌종 대 열린 연향인 <무신진찬의식>의 연향 준비 과정과 연향에 사용된 악장의 분석을 통해 <무신진찬의식>의 숨겨진 연향 목적을 발견하고자 하였다. <무신진찬의식>은 헌종의 할머니인 순원왕후의 육순과 어머니 신정왕후의 망오를 축하하기 위해 열린 연향이었다. 그런데 헌종은 연향 주인공인 순원왕후와 신정왕후에게 존호를 올리면서 할아버지 순조와 아버지 효명세자에게도 존호를 올렸다. 그리고 연향이 열린 통명전에서 후궁인 경빈의 좌석을 왕비의 좌석과 대등하게 배치시켜서 경빈을 통해 태어나게 될 아이에게 왕실 후계자의 권위를 부여해주고자 하였다. 이와 같이 헌종이 <무신진찬의식>을 통해 순조와 효명세자에게 존호를 올리고 아직 태어나지도 않은 왕실 후계자에게 왕실의 권위를 부여해주고자 한 것은 세도 정치기 속에 약화된 왕실의 권위를 높이고 왕권을 지키고자 하였기 때문이다. 그리고 헌종은 연향 주인공인 순원왕후의 성덕을 칭송하고 장수를 기원하는 내용의 악장을 지어 <무신진찬의식>에서 공연하게 하였다. 어제악장의 내용을 분석해 보면 세도정치기 속에서 헌종이 정치적 기반을 닦을 수 있도록 힘이 되어준 순원왕후에 대한 존경과 감사의 마음을 표현하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이와 같은 사실을 통해 <무신진찬의식>이 세도 정치기 속에서 왕권강화와 왕실의 정통성 회복이라는 숨겨진 목적을 가지고 열린 연향이었음을 알 수 있다.

This is written to find the objective of the Yeonhyang(royal court banquet) hidden in through analysing the Yeonhyang(royal court banquet) preparation process of held in King Heonjong Dynasty and the movement which was used in the court banquet. was the Yeonhyang(royal court banquet) to celebrate Queen Sunwon``s sixty, who was the King Heonjong``s grandmother, and his mother``s Mang-o(forty one). When King Heonjong gave the eulogistic title to Queen Sunwon and Queen Shinjung who were the heroines of the Yeonhyang(royal court banquet), he also did to his grandfather King Sunjo and his father Crown Prince Hyomyeong. And he tried to grant the baby, who was born from Lady Gyungbin, authority as the royal heir by placing the Lady Gyungbin(King``s concubine)``s seat beside the queen``s seat equally in the Tongmyeongjeon Hall the Yeonhyang(royal court banquet) was held. In this wise, giving the eulogistic title to King Sunjo and Crown Prince Hyomyeong and granting the royal heir who was not born yet at the moment authority through were for raising the authority of the royal family which were weakened in the politics by in-powers. And King Heonjong made to write and perform the movement acclaiming the Yeonhyang``s heroine Queen Sunwon``s flourishing virtues and praying for her longevity in the . With analysing the content of the movement, we can notice King Heonjong expressed respect and gratitude to Queen Sunwon who had helped him to build his political base inside the politics by in-powers. Through this fact, was the Yeonhyang having the hidden objective to overcome the politics by in-powers.
