The development of address terms and referent names regarding kinship is a representative feature in the Korean language. This study examines the current educational situation on those terms of kinship by analyzing textbooks designed for marriage-based female immigrants, and suggest the characteristics of the language used in the textbooks by comparing the lexical contents of those textbooks to the educational vocabulary and standard Korean language etiquette that native Korean speakers learn. The second chapter reviews the series of textbooks for female marriagebased immigrants published by the National Institute of Korean Language. We can categorize the usage of address terms and referent names into two parts: 1) clearly-stated learning objectives for the learner to follow and 2) examples of the usage. The vocabulary sections of those terms of kinship appear throughout the series; however, the learning objectives are only stated in Book One. Returning to the explanation of the usage of the terms, the context is limited to a few situations, and also confuses the learner by providing invalid explanations. Furthermore, throughout the whole book, many of the examples do not correlate with each other. In the third chapter, we are to observe the differences between the vocabulary and etiquette that native Korean speakers learn and the lexical contents in textbooks designed for immigrants. The contents described in the textbook are very limited and show a lack of diversity. We also find it difficult to see clearly depicted marks that displays the diverse forms and relationships within a Korean family. Also, the family terms presented in the textbooks do not contain properly the general vocabulary which is often used in Korean society. There is also some incongruent usage of words regarding language etiquette.
