본 연구는 Bem의 양성성 이론을 바탕으로 개발된 한국 성역할 검사(KSRI; 정진경, 1990)의 단축형을 구성하고 타당화하는 것을 그 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 KSRI의 남성성 하위척도와 여성성하위척도 각각에 대해 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하고 각 요인별로 부하량이 높은 최종 5문항씩을 선정하였다. 다시 확인적 요인분석을 통해 단축형 척도가 5문항의 남성성 척도와 5문항의 여성성 척도로 구성됨을 확인하였다. KSRI 단축형 척도와 KSRI 원척도와의 상관분석 결과는 남성성과 여성성의 각 요인별 5문항이 원척도를 비교적 충실히 대표하고 있음을 나타냈다. 자아존중감, 삶의 의미, 5요인 성격 변인과의 유의한 상관을 통해 준거타당도를 확보하였다. 마지막으로 연령집단별 동등성검증 결과는 단축형 척도의 구조가 연령별로 동일한 방식으로 작동하고 있다는 것을 보였다. 한국단축형 성역할 척도(KSRI-SF)는 안정적인 신뢰도와 타당도를 바탕으로 짧은 시간에 간편하게 성역할특성을 측정하는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was two-fold: (a) to develop a short version of the Korean Sex Role Inventory (KSRI; Jeong, 1990) that measures masculinity-femininity and gender roles based on the theory of Bem’ androgyny and (b) to validate the short version. An exploratory factory analysis suggested a 10 item two-factor solution, resulting in the KSRI-SF, the short version of the original KSRI. Confirmatory factory analysis supported an adequate model fit of this two-factor model: 5 items in masculinity and 5 items in femininity. Each factor of the KSRI-SF was positively correlated with the original KSRI, suggesting that they represent the original scale authentically. Correlation analyses between the KSRI-SF and three criterion variables (i.e., self-esteem, meaning in life, and big five personality) showed that there was a high correlation between the KSRI-SF and the criterion variables. The results of equivalence verification suggested that the theoretical structure of the short version operates in the same way in all age groups. KSRI-SF is significant in that it can be used to measure the properties of gender role easily in a short time based on stable reliability and validity.
