Results of classification system and use of Song dynasty agarwood line are as follows. Chimhyang(agarwood, 沈香) is the name by the resin(樹脂) density, and various names along with the density are all "agarwood line". In respect of incense production method during Song dynasty literature, all of agarwood line was utilized as perfume, accordingly, understanding of classification system and each use of agarwood line is important. Socioㆍeconomic factors why the classification system of agarwood line was finally established during Song dynasty are as follows. First, large quantity inflow of foreign perfume in Song dynasty through overseas trade. Second, publication of books that introduce foreign culture based on overseas trade. Third, publication of perfume specialized books. Fourth, expansion of perfume use through ordinary people. Fifth, accumulation of pharmaceutical knowledge on perfume. Classification system of Song dynasty agarwood line was according to resin density, generation process, and the shape. Resin density of agarwood line was based on the name Chimhyang, which is very important, since it is the standard of discrimination. Resin density could be divided into 5 stages, the highest 5th stage Chimhyang has resin density 100%, 4th stage Jeonhyang(箋香) has 70%, 3rd stage Sokhyang(速香) has 50%, 2nd stage Jamhyang(暫香) has 30%, and 1st stage saenghyang(生香) has 10%. Chimhyang sinks down when putting it into the water, Jeonhyang does not sink nor float, however SokhyangㆍJamhyangㆍSaenghyang float on the water. Agarwood line is classified into natural Suk(熟) and artificial Saeng(生) depend on naturalness in the generation process. If resin density is the same, mostly Suk was more highly evaluated than Saeng. Classification by shape was named by color and shape, which has lots of names. Only Suk agarwood was used for medical stuff, and agarwood has no toxicity and side effect. When taking as the medical stuff, it was taken only fine powder type. Agarwood line was utilized as perfume, cosmetic and ornaments, etc.
