본 연구의 목적은 읽기 전략에 대한 중학생의 인식을 조사하는 것이다. 먼저, 선행연구 분석을 통해 읽기 전략 26개를 선정하였다. 다음으로 전문가 협의를 통해 설문 내용을 확정하였다. 읽기 전략에 대한 중학생 인식은 중요도와 활용도로 나누어 조사되었다. 연구 대상은 설문에 응답한 중학교2학년 116명이었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 읽기 전략의 중요도에 대한 인식이 활용도에 대한 인식보다 높았다. 둘째 비슷한 유형이나 동일한 목적을 지닌 전략임에도 불구하고 서로 다른 인식이 나타난 경우가 있었다. 셋째, 남학생집단은 읽은 내용의 심화·확장에 초점을 두고 있었고 여학생 집단은 내용이해에 초점을 두고 있었다. 넷째, 읽기 능력에 대한 인식이 보통인 집단은 내용 이해에 초점을 두고 있었고 상 집단은 읽기를 조정하는 전략에 초점을 두고 있었다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 읽기 전략에 대한 연구는 학습자에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 이루어져야 한다는 것을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study is to explore middle school student perception of reading strategies. For this study, 26 reading strategies was selected through a consideration of previous studies. Next a questionnaire was created through expert consultation. We researched students’ perceptions of reading strategies according to their perceived importance and performance. The subjects of study were 116 second-year middle school students who responded to the questionnaire. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the degree of importance was higher than the degree of performance in regards to reading strategies. Second, there were different perceptions despite reading strategies that were of a similar type or same purpose. Third, the male group focused on extending ordeepening more reading comprehension compared with female group. The female group focused on the reading comprehension itself. Fourth, normal group of students who scored three points in Likert-scale about reading strategies focused on the reading comprehension itself. The high group of students who scored four or five points in Likert-scale about reading strategies focused on a regualted strategies. Based on the results, it proposed that a study on reading strategies be based on an understanding of the learner.
