쓰기 능력은 환경과 맥락의 변화에 따라 다양해질 수 있다. 특히 매체와 기술의 발달은 이러한 변화를 가속화하였다. 쓰기 모형에 반영된 쓰기의 인지 과정은 그간 여러 차례 수정되어 왔으나, 최근의 폭발적인 변화 양상을 담아내지 못하고 있다. 특히 온라인 기반의 컴퓨터와 결합된 방식의 정보 처리는 인간 인지의 공진화를 시도하였으며, 매체 발달에 매우 유연성을 갖는 학생 필자들의 쓰기 양상은 매우 변화하였다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 과거의 필자와 쓰기 교육을 규정지을 수 있는 특징들을 정리하고, 이를 통해 21세기를 살아가는 필자들의 쓰기의 양상들을 포착하였다. 인쇄 기반 매체, 표현교육의 배제, 대입 논술고사와 쓰기 평가, 전문 필자로의 제한, 비실용적 학문 인식이 20세기의 필자와 쓰기 교육을 대변하는 특징이라 한다면, 21세기의 필자들은 온라인 기반 매체와 키보드 쓰기의 대중화가 이루어진 작문 맥락에서 비판적 문식성을 인식해나가며, 쓰기 평가의 양적·질적 확대를 통해 자신의 쓰기 능력에 대한 평가를 지속적으로 축적해나갈 수 있게 되었으며, SNS 및 협업 도구 등을 통해 공동체 구성원으로서의 필자를 인식하게 되었으며, 쓰기 능력은 학업 및 직업적 성공과 직결된다는 것으로 규정지을 수 있다. 이 연구의 결과는 미래의 필자를 위한 쓰기 교육에 대한 시사점을 제공한다.

Writing ability is varied depending on environment and contexts. Development of technological mediums have accelerated these changes. Cognitive process is often reflected in writing models have revised, but they could not contain trendy phenomenon that is changes explosive in concurrently. In particular, information process related online based computer has attempted to co-evolute, and also tremendous changed student writers who have flexibility for developing the medium. This study reviewed some characteristics of writers and writing instruction in the past, through which make catching phenomenon for new writers in 21st century. Some characteristics in the past are print based medium; avoiding of expression education; writing assessment in entrance system, gifted or specialistic writers of the era; unpractical perception to writing. In contrast, nature of new writer in 21st century is to online based writing medium; awareness of critical literacy; extending in size and quality of writing assessment; writing promise to academic and career success. This study proposed some instructional discussion to writing education that based understanding new writing in concurrent writer.
