하보 장응두는 1930년대 중반에 등단하여 1960년대까지 활동한 시인이다. 그는 통영과 부산 지역의 대표적인 문학인으로 언급되고 있으나, 실제 그의 텍스트에 대한 연구는 매우 적은 편이다. 특히 1930~40년대에 발표한 작품들의경우, 자료의 수집·정리·보존조차 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 당시에 발표된 하보의 시·시조 작품들은 식민지 시기 지역 문학인의 긍정적인 존재방식을 보여주는 텍스트로서 의미를 지니고 있으므로 심층적인 분석을할 필요가 있다고 판단된다. 1930~40년대 하보의 시·시조는 일제강점기의 사회와 삶, 근대문학제도와매체 등이 빚어내는 관계망의 한 지점 위에서 존재할 수 있었던 특정한 작품 담론이다. 하보는 사회적 억압과 이향의 체험을 바탕으로 일제강점기의 현실을 비판적으로 인식하고 있었고, 창작을 통해 그 현실에 대응하는 자세를 드러내고자했다. 그리고 매체에 작품을 발표함으로써 자신의 언어를 사회 내에서 담론화하고자 했으며, 그것을 위해 여러 매체에 다양한 방식으로 참여하였다. 이 논문은그렇게 발표된 하보의 당대 시·시조 작품들을 작품 담론의 차원에서 고찰함으로써 그 가치를 재조명하고자 하는 연구이다. 그에 따라 장소와 사회, 매체 등하보 시·시조의 지층을 살펴본 다음, 그 위에서 형성된 실제 작품의 담론을 분석하는 순서로 하보의 작품 담론을 고찰하고 있다.
Habo Jang Eung-du is the poet who started his literary career in the middle of 1930s and wrote poems until 1960s in Tongyeong and Busan. He`s been evaluated as a representative writer in Tongyeong and Busan, but there have been few researches on his texts. So far, most of the discussion on him has been limited to the appreciation of his sijo, 「Hanyabo」, fragmentary anecdotes revealing his life and personality, and the mention that he was a member of 『Saengli(生理)』 and 『Maek(맥)』, the literary coterie magazines of 1930s, and formed the literary circles in Busan after Korean War. Particularly, in case of the works published during the early stage of his literary activities during 1930s and 1940s, even collection, arrangement and preservation are not being properly conducted. However, Habo`s works at that time need to be reevaluated in that they show the positive way for a local writer to lead his or her life during Japanese colonial era. Habo had critical consciousness about the reality in those days through his life as the colonized, and his experience of leaving his home, and tried to discuss them by creating and publishing poems and sijos. In this research, such discussion in Habo`s works was analyzed in the relationship network where the era and the society, and the system and media are involved, and the meanings of his poems and sijos were evaluated again.
