The subject recognizes objects by sensing opaque being before integrating stimuli received through sensory organs. Before recognizing what the objects is, we can sense the feeling of it. It implies that sense is fundamental and pre-conscious. Also, sense is complex from the beginning. Biologically speaking, different stimuli are received by corresponding organs, but they are sensed simultaneously rather thanintegrated from the different feelings. These complexity is expressed in Kim, Chun-su’s poetry. He often used multiple senses in his poetry, and it is different from synesthesia image in that senses are revealed simultaneously. Synesthesia image is characterized by temporality in the process of transition and change of the original sense to another sense. On the other hand, sensitive expressions in Kim, Chun-su’s poetry embodies complexity of senses, not replacing the original sense to another one. Sight, the most significant sense in his poetry, perceives the texture of the object. Merleau-Ponty’s thought of understanding ‘seeing’ as sense of both reversibility and complexity, like ‘touching’, can be applied. Sight perceives the shape and the texture of the object at one time, which makes it to be understood as interactive, complex sense. Kim, Chun-su’s poetry are good example of these awareness. Two strategies can be used to express the complexity, showing that the complexity is embodied in the object itself or showing that the predicate have multiple senses to explain the object. For example, objects such as wind, glass, rock, fire can be seen as multiple senses. Also, verbs like ‘cry’ or ‘flow’, can be expressed into visual or auditory senses, and ‘calm’ can also expresses visual state of objects while expressing the auditory sense. These words widens the meaning of the objects and composes the entire poem. Ultimately, these strategies shows that senses are important things that guarantees co-existence of subject and objects. Therefore, senses are important keyword which is connected to phenomenological corps and well explains poetic thought of Kim, Chun-su.
