이 연구는 2009 개정 초등 국어과 교과서 문학 작품의 수록 양상을 분석한 것이다. 2015학년도부터 초등학교 전 학년에서 2009개정교육과정에 따른 교과서를 배우게 되었다. 2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 교과서는 이전 교과서와는 달리 ≪국어≫와 ≪국어활동≫의 두 권 체제로 개발되었다. 20여 년 동안 초등국어과 교과서의 교과서명은 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기를 유지하고 있었으나, 각 영역의 통합을 지향하면서 주교과서와 보조교과서의 양식을 갖게 되었다. 새로운 교과서에 수록된 문학작품의 수록 특성은 크게 세 가지로 분석할 수 있었다. 첫째, 수록 문학작품 수의 감소이다. 서정문학, 서사문학 작품 모두 이전 교과서에 비하여 10% 정도 감소폭을 나타내었다. 둘째, 아동문학사적으로 우수한 명작이 수록 비율이 증가하였고, 셋째, 외국 문학작품의 수록 양이 증가했음을 알 수 있었다. 그러나, 서정작품들이 편중되어 배치되고 원텍스트의 작품성이 변용되어 수록된 점은 교과서 문학작품 수록과정에서 해결해야 과제로 드러났다.
