This research analyzes Choi Inhun`s novel Hoisaekin, focusing on the term ``Degagement`` which appears in this work. Degagement in this context is a relative term with ``Engagement`` discussed in Sartre`s Beings and Nothingness. While ``Engagement`` means engagement with reality, ``Degagement`` is interpreted as a breakaway from reality. Choi Inhun, a writer who came to South from North over the border, tries to seek egoism of a man who lost his hometown with Dokgo Jun, a character who is Choi`s alter ego, and a new relationship between society and individuals. In this way, the parody which adopts and transforms Lee sang`s motives of mirror and self-portrait as well as Bram Stoker`s Dracula, improves the richness of Choi Inhun`s works.
