본 연구에서는 발달장애성인들의 주거 환경과 지원서비스에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 발달장애성인 부모 6명을 대상으로 3회에 걸친 포커스그룹 면담을 실시하였다. 포커스그룹 면담 결과로써 첫째, 부모들은 교사와 거주, 긍정적 행동 강화 등으로 시설보다는 그룹 홈을 선호하고 있었지만 재정적 부담, 24시간/7일 거주 가능 등으로 시설을 선택하는 경우들이 있었다. 둘째, 주거환경의 개선방안으로는 접근성, 다양한 선택 등이 언급되었다. 셋째, 발달장애성인들에 대한 지원서비스와 관련해서는 인적 자원 부족, 지원서비스의 부족 등을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 발달장애성인들의 지원서비의 개선과 관련해서는 소비자 중심의 다양한 서비스의 지원, 활동지원서비스의 확대, 장애인 등급제에 따른 불합리성, 수시로 변경되는 정책 등이 언급되었다.

The purpose of this study is to identify perceptions of parents of adult sons/daughters with developmental disabilities on residential environments and residential support needs. A total of 6 parents of adult sons/daughters with developmental disabilities participated in three focus group interviews. As results, first parents prefer group home to large residential institutions because of living with teachers, 24hour/7days care services, positive behavioral enforcements, and others. Nevertheless, they reluctantly chose institutions as future residences for their adult children with disabilities because of financial burdens, residence of 24hours/7days, and others. Second, the improvement ways for residential environment were mentioned accessibility, various choices, and others. Third, support services for adults with developmental delays shows that the lack of personal resources, the lack of support services, and others. Fourth, the improvement ways for residential environment were mentioned several things such as customized residential service needs, expansion of activity support policy, concerns of Korean Assessment Scale of Disability, and frequent changes in policy.
