본 연구는 사회부과적 완벽주의 성향이 학업지연행동에 미치는 영향을 실패공포와 자기결정성이 매개하는지를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 경기도에 소재한 인문계 고등학교에 재학 중인 학생 312명(남자 150명, 여자162명)을 대상으로 설문지를 배포하였다. 수집된 자료를 구조방정식을 통해 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의는 학업지연행동에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의 성향이 높은 학생들일수록 학업지연행동을 더 많이 하는 경향이 있었다. 둘째, 실패공포와 자기결정성은 사회부과적 완벽주의가 학업지연행동에 미치는 영향을 유의하게 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 실패공포는 사회적으로 부과된 완벽주의와 학업지연행동간의 관계를 매개하였으며, 실패공포에서 학업지연행동으로 가는 경로는 자기결정성에 의해 매개되는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 자기결정성은 실패공포가 학업지연행동에 미치는 영향을 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과가 가지는 학문적, 임상적 시사점과 함께 본 연구의 제한점 및 추후연구 방향에 대해 논하였다.

This research investigated the mediating effects of the fear of failure and self determination on the relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism and academic procrastination. For this purpose, a total of 312 students (150 male, 162 female) attending academic high schools in Gyeonggi-do were asked to participate in the survey. The results of analyzed data using SEM were as follows. First, there were significant effect of socially prescribed perfectionism on academic procrastination, that is, the higher socially prescribed perfectionism was, the higher academic procrastination was. Second, the effect of socially prescribed perfectionism on academic procrastination was meditated through fear of failure and self determination. Specifically, the fear of failure had the mediating effect between socially prescribed perfectionism and academic procrastination, and self determination fully mediated the effect of fear of failure on academic procrastination. Finally, the academic and clinical implication, limitations of studies, and suggestion for future researches were discussed.
