청년실업이 심각한 사회문제로 대두되고 있는 가운데, 각 대학들은 졸업생의 성공적 취업을 위해 다양한 취업교육 프로그램을 제공하고 있다. 그러나 대학의 취업교육 투자가 증가함에도 불구하고 “성공적 취업에 얼마나 효과적인가”에 대한 실증적 평가가 부족하다. 이 연구는 대졸자의 취업성과를 결정하는 요인을 분석하되, 특히 대학의 취업교육 프로그램이 대기업 및 정규직 취업에 어느 정도 영향을 미치는 가에 초점을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 취업성과 결정요인을 사회경제적 요인, 학업성취도, 취업준비 노력 등 세 차원으로 나누어 살펴보며, 천안 소재 K대학의 학사 데이터를 분석 자료로 활용했다. 선행 연구는 주로 졸업(예정자)자를 대상으로 한 자기보고식 설문에 근거하고 있으나 개인정보 민감성 등으로 분석데이터로서의 타당성이 낮다는 한계가 있다. 이 연구는 대학의 공식적인 학사데이터를 활용함으로써 정확한 정보와 자료에 근거한 분석을 제공하는 장점이 있다. 취업성과 측정을 위해 취업성공 여부뿐만 아니라 대기업 취업, 정규직 취업여부 등을 종합적으로 검토함으로써 취업성과의 질적 요소를 함께 고려했다. 취업성과를 결정하는 요인으로 현장실습, 취업클리닉, 학업성취도, 외국어성적 등이 꼽혔으며, 특히 취업클리닉 프로그램은 대기업 취업에 커다란 영향을 미치는 요인으로 분석됐다.

This study is designed to empirically examine the determinants of successful job seeking of college students. As the youth in Korea had experienced hard time in job seeking, most colleges implemented the job education programs to support their students’ effort to seek the job. There are, however, few studies exploring the effects of the varied job education programs the universities have invested with huge amount of budget. This current study take a comprehensive approaches to investigate the determinants of successful job seeking, and it put a focus on if and how effective the job education programs work for the college students’ employment outcomes. To this end, it takes into account multiple determinants including socio-economic factors, academic performances, and the individual efforts for job-seeking using the official dataset of K University located at Cheon-an city. In addition, this study involves the size of companies the students are recruited and employment status allowing for the quality of their new jobs. We found that the internship programs including job-experience arrangements, special clinic programs for successful jobs, academic performances and ability of foreign language(English) and that the job-clinic programs contributed to getting a job of large-sized firms.
