이 논문에서는 세월호 참사 트라우마를 치유하기 위한 목회 상담적 접근을 시도해보려고 한다. 첫째로 세월호 참사 피해자들에게 적용되었던 지나친 고통의 의료화에 대한 문제제기를 시도하려 한다. 세월호 참사의 치료를 지나치게 의료적, 임상적 측면에서 접근했던 방식의 기저에 깔려있었던 DSM V의 외상후스트레스 장애와 급성 스트레스 장애의 트라우마 정의의 한계성을 살펴보려고 한다. 두 번째로 관계 문화적 관점에서 트라우마 치유를 위한 사회적 자아이해의 중요성을 논의하려고 한다. 트라우마를 지극히 개인적인 관점의 상처로 보는 것의 한계점을 넘어, 관계 문화 이론의 관계적 자아의 특성을 고려하여, 사회적 트라우마로서의 세월호 참사의 본질을 살펴보려고 한다. 따라서 사회적, 문화적 구성으로서의 자아 이해를 위한 체계적 이해를 위한 세월호 참사의 구조적 문제에 대해서 살펴볼 것이다. 구조적 문제로서 세월호 참사를 둘러싼 한국교회의 대처에 대한 성찰도 포함될 것이다. 선한 이웃으로 죽어가는 이웃을 구해야할 사명을 한국교회가 제대로 감당했는지에 대한 성찰과 회개를 하기 위함이다. 마지막으로 곤경에 빠진 이웃을 돕기 위한 실천적이고, 행동적인 목회적 돌봄의 필요성과 개인의 의료화를 극복하기 위한 관계 문화적 돌봄으로서의 목회적 돌봄, 그리고 트라우마를 통한 공동체의 사랑과 영성의 회복을 기원하는 월트 부르그만(Walter Brueggeman)과 캐리 도어링(Carrie Doehring)의 주장을 끝으로 논문을 마칠 것이다.

This paper attempts to explore how pastoral care can be used to treat the trauma of the victims of the Sewol Ferry tragedy. First, I critique how the clinical model widely used to treat victims is based far too much on the individual. This exploration reveals the limits of the methods used to cure post-traumatic stress disorder and acute stress disorder according to the DSM-V. Second, I propose how a relational cultural model that prioritizes a cultural identity can be used to overcome the limits of a clinical model. By focusing on the trauma the tragedy inflicted on the country as a whole, I will be able to see how a cultural understanding is used to treat individuals. Also, an analysis of the problems regarding the involvement of Korean churches with respect to the victims will be provided. Last, I will assert that the relational cultural pastoral theology focuses on the importance of understanding one individual as a social cultural construction. Also, I will provide traditional Christian understandings of theodicy to provide traditional Christian theological resources for pastors and pastoral caregivers. I will conclude this paper with reflections of two theologians, Carrie Doehering and Walter Brueggman, to reiterate the importance of the faith community and God`s grace.
