직무 글쓰기 역량이란 한 개인이 직장에서 과업을 충분히 수행하기 위해 갖추어야 할 문서 작성 능력(document production ability)이다. 일반적으로 직업 세계에 진입한 필자들은 직장이라는 특정 공동체 내에서 글쓰기를 실천하는 가운데 직무 글쓰기 능력을 계발해간다. 그러나 최근 국가직무능력표준(National Competency Standard)인 NCS에 기반한 특성화 마이스터고, 대학, 산업체의 교육과정이나 2015 국어과 교육과정의 진로 선택 과목인 <실용 국어>에 직무 글쓰기 교육 내용이 반영되기 시작하면서 직무 글쓰기 교육 내용 및 방법에 대한 탐색이 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Lave & Wenger(1991)의 상황 학습 이론에서 제안한 합법적 주변참여 관점에 기반하여 성인들이 직장이라는 실천 공동체에 참여하는 과정에서 직무 글쓰기 능력을 계발해가는 양상을 탐색함으로써 향후 직무 글쓰기 교육 방안을 마련하기 위한 토대를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 직무 필자로서 5급 이상 공무원 4명을 대상으로 합법적 주변 참여 관점에 따라 직무 글쓰기 능력 계발 과정을 탐색하였고 1) 공통 업무 장르 지식 교육, 2)업무 장르 인식(workplace genre awareness) 능력을 기르기 위한 교육, 3) 조사나 분석에 기반한 실천적이며 문제 해결적이고 협력적인 글쓰기 교육 방안에 대한 모색 필요성을 제안하였다.

The aim of this study is to explore the way which new employees develop and learn their workplace writing ability in real workplace based on legitimate peripheral participation of situated learning suggested by Lave & Wenger(1991). Because of contextual and textual differences between workplace and educational writing, to be expert writer from novice writer in workplace requires authentic participation as real workplace writer. But workplace writing or technical writing is more emphasis after National Competency Standard(NCS) and < practical Korean language > of 2015 Korean language arts curriculum are announced for characterization high school or Meister high school. 4 public officials who write technical documents primarily are participated in in-depth interview for this study and this interview results suggest that workplace writing education should provide 1) common workplace writing genre instruction, 2) workplace genre awareness instruction, 3) collaborative, problem solving, authentic writing instruction giving students to research or analysis writing assignments.
