‘포스트 휴먼’(Post-Human)이 대세가 되고 있는 21세기에 왜 고전을 필요로 하는 것일까? 21세기야 말로 인문학적 통찰이 필요한 시기이다. 고전에 보이는 인문학적 통찰, 전환기에 있었던 인문학적 대안을 제시할 필요성이 있다. 인간은 미래를 살아보지는 않았지만, 축적된 과거의 지혜를 살피면서 미래를 추측하고 예견할 수 있다. 과거로 되돌아가 어떻게 살아야 하는지를 점검하고자 할 때, 고전은 우리에게 새로운 삶의 모델을 형성하는 근거를 제공한다. 이것이 동양의 축의 시대의 정신적. 문화적 산물인고전에 주목하는 이유이다. 한문고전은 한문 문명이 형성된 이래로 2,000여 년 동안 많은 사람들에게 읽히며 우리 사회를 유지시켜 나가는 근간이 되고 있는 책이다. ‘古書’(오래된 책)일 뿐만 아니라 인간 삶의 典範이 되고 있다. 현재 한문문화권에서는 한문문명 형성기의 고전 중에서 특히 유가고전을 ‘經典’이라고 부르기도 한다. 동아시아의 고전교육을 생각할 경우, 중국에서 발생한 ‘讀經 論爭’(유교 경전의 가치를 둘러싼 논쟁)을 주목할 필요가 있다. 중국의 讀經 운동은 전통 회복의 시도 뒤에 중화주의와 중화주의의 뿌리인 유교 전통을 회복하여 사회주의에 대체하는 대안 정치 이데올로기를 만들려는 의도가 숨어있다. 본고에서는 이러한 중국의 독경논쟁을 검토 한 뒤에, 우리의 한자교육 찬반논쟁과 고전교육 방향잡기를 검토하였다. 우리의 고전교육은 21세기 동북아시아 미래를 이끌어갈 사상과 가치에 대한 탐구를 주제로 삼아야 한다. ‘전통’에 근거하여 미래를 추론할 때의 위험성을 환기하면서 동아시아 문명사의 맥락에서 한자교육, 고전교육을 살펴보고자 하였다.
Why do we need classic in 21st Century with Post-Human which is the trend these days? Humanics insight is the very thing in 21st Century. Humanics insight over classic proposes an alternative in 21st Century because human cannot live in the future but they can foresee and guess future thereby studying long accumulated wisdom of past. When we go back to the past and inspect how to live, shaping new model of life is based on classic. Classic is also Asian spiritual and cultural products. That``s why we focus on classic. Chinese classic is the basis over 2000 years and it keeps our society also most widely read of all books. Classic is the oldest book as well as symbolic example of life. Especially ‘Classic’ means Confucian classic in the circle of Chinese letter culture. When consider classical education in East asia, examining arguments for value of Confucian ‘Classic’ in China is especially worth noting. Examining Confucian political debate in China hoards its intention of making new political alternative ideology instead socialist system by so doing recover tradition of China state and Confucian. This writing studied right direction of classic education and arguments for and against of chinese education after examining Confucian political debate in China. The subject of classical education is study of thought and value which lead 21st Century Northeast asia. It has to awake risky when infer future on ``tradition`` over study classical education and Chinese education as seen from the East Asian history of civilization
