본 연구에서는 개념도(concept mapping) 방법을 사용하여 숙련 및 초심 외상 상담자의 대리외상으로 인한 영향과 대처에 대한 요인을 탐색하고, 숙련자와 초심자 간 대리외상 경험의 차이를 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 외상 생존자를 지원하는 기관에서 10년 이상 근무한 숙련 상담자와 3년 이하 근 무한 초심 상담자 각 8명씩 총 16명을 대상으로 개별면접을 실시한 후 대리외상의 영향과 대처에 관한 핵심 문장을 추출하였다. 그리고 총 28명의 외상 상담자들의 참여로 핵심 문장을 분류하고 평정한 뒤 다차원적 척도법과 군집분석을 실시하여 각 집단별 대리외상의 영향과 대처 요인에 대한 개념적 구조를 확인하였다. 그 결과 숙련집단의 대리외상 영향에 관한 개념도에서는 ``생리적 영향``, ``정서적 영향``, ``인지적 영향``, ``사회적 영향``, ``상담관계 영향``, ``행동화``, ``긍정적 영향``이라는 7개 범주 가 나타났고, 초심집단에서는 ``생리적 영향``, ``정서적 영향``, ``사회적 영향``, ``내담자와 관계 영향``이라 는 4개의 범주가 나타났다. 숙련집단의 대리외상 대처에서는 ``동료 지원``, ``전문성 강화``, ``자기 성찰``, ``일과 사생활의 경계유지``, ``자기 돌봄``이라는 5개의 범주가 나타났고, 초심집단에서는 ``동료 및 기관 지원``, ``교육과 일의 의미``, ``내담자와 경계유지``, ``가족 및 친구지원``, ``자기 돌봄``이라는 5개의 범주가 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 두 집단의 대리외상 경험에 대한 유사점과 차이점을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 숙련 및 초심 외상 상담자가 지각하는 대리외상 경험을 심도 있게 조사함으로써 외상 상담 자의 교육과 훈련에 유용한 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

The purposes of this study were 1) to explore the impact of vicarious trauma (VT) among trauma counselors and their coping strategies toward VT and 2) to identify the differences of their experience of VT between novice and expert counselors through a research method called Concept Mapping. A total of 16 trauma counselors- eight novice(less than 3 years of experience) and eight expert (more than 10 years of experience)- were interviewed and based on the interview data, core statements on VT were generated. For data analysis, 28 trauma counselors participated in sorting and rating the statements. Multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis were conducted to develop the concept maps. The result of these concept maps provided a conceptual framework on the effect of VT and coping strategies in trauma counselors. The impact of VT from expert group presented 7 clusters, namely ``physical effect``, ``emotional effect``, ``cognitional effect``, ``social effect``, ``counseling relationship effect``, ``acting out``, ``positive effect`` and novice group presented 4 clusters, namely ``physical effect``, ``emotional effect``, ``social effect``, ``therapeutic relationship effect``. The coping strategies toward VT from expert group showed 5 clusters, namely ``peer support``, ``improving professionalism``, ``self introspection``, ``maintaining professional boundary``, ``self care`` and the novice group showed 5 clusters, namely ``peer and institutional support``, ``education and searching meaning of work``, ``maintaining professional boundary``, ``family and friends`` support``, ``self care``. This result presented similarities and differences between novice and expert counselors. Finally implications and limitations of this study as well as suggestions for further research were discussed.
