이 글의 목적은 현대국어에 새롭게 등장한 한자음의 연원을 고찰하는 것이다. 현대국어에서 字典을 편찬하면서 內外 古今 韻書, 字書 등을 열람하여 字音과 字義를 망라하게 되는 것은 사전 편찬의 기본 자세이지만, 결과적으로 대형 字典의 편찬에서는 필연적으로 한자음의 추가가 야기된다. 이것은 대형 字典이 古今의 漢籍에 대한 한자 사용의 용례를 들고, 이에 대한 과 를 모두 기록해야 하기 때문이다. 본고에서는 1급 3,500字를 대상으로 하여 대표적인 漢韓 字典에서 새롭게 등장한 한자음을 수집하여 그 연원을 밝히고자 한 것이다. 본론에서 분류하여 논의한연원의 경향을 종합적으로 귀납하여 열거하면 첫째, 韻書 및 字書의 다양한 反切을 반영한 경우가 가장 많다. 둘째, 고래로부터 사용되었을 俗音이 되살아난 경우가 있다. 셋째, 反切의 규범성보다는 通用字의 音을 기록한 경우가 많다. 넷째, 하나의 反切이지만 시대 차이에 의해 서로 다른 음이 반영되는 경우도 있다. 다섯째, 설명하기 어려운 특수한 음운적 변용이 일어난 한자음이 있다. 그러나 새로운 한자음이라도 가능한 음운 변화가 적용된 한자음은 새로운 한자음이라고 할 수 없다. 등으로 요약할 수 있다.

This thesis aims at phonological study on the sounds of contemporary sino-Korean characters. Generally the sounds of Sino-korean characters of the middle age Korean based on the ancient Chinese. But the sounds of contemporary Sino-Korean characters have multiple value and many origin. In this thesis I tried to explain the reason of many sounds of the contemporary Sino-Korean characters. I came to conclusion that there are many historical reasons in multiple sounds values of contemporary Sino-Korean characters. There are many sounds in the dictionary of Sino-Korean characters. That sounds are come from multiple usuage in historical documents. The compilers of Sino-Korean characters dictionary collected many usage of Chinese characters in historical documents. As a result multiple sounds have been recorded in Sino-Korean characters dictionary. I came to conclusion that there are many historical reasons in multiple sounds values of contemporary Sino-Korean characters. I tried to classify the various reason in multiple sounds values.
