본 연구는 조기 개입 서비스가 뇌손상으로 인한 장애위험영아의 초기 뇌와 운동 발달에미치는 영향과 조기 개입에 대한 부모의 경험과 인식을 사례연구를 통해 살펴봄으로써 우리나라 조기 개입 서비스 시스템 개발을 위한 논의를 확장하는 데에 목적이 있다. 사례연구의 대상은 출생 시 뇌손상으로 인해 ‘장애위험’으로 진단 받은 32개월 영아이며, 연구 자료로는 부모 심층면담 자료, 해당 영아의 의료와 조기 개입 보고서, 비개입 상담 자료가 수집ㆍ분석되었다. 분석된 자료는 아래의 세 주제로 보고하였다: (1) 뇌손상으로 인한 장애위험영아의 상태, (2) 뇌손상으로 인한 장애위험영아에 대한 조기 개입, (3) 조기 개입에 대한 부모의 인식 및 경험. 특히, 지역 중심 조기 개입 기관인 Early Steps에서 제공하는 전문가-가족연계 프로그램과 가정 내 활동을 통한 부모 교육이 조기 개입의 성공 여부에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 또한 제시되었다. 이를 바탕으로 우리나라의 조기 개입 체계의 발전 방향 및 구체적서비스 전달 체계 개발에 대한 필요성을 논의 한다.

This study aimed to explore the roles and impact of early intervention services provided to an at-risk infant and their effects on early brain and motor develop ment, as well as parents’ perceptions and experiences. Participants are a 32- month-old infant and his parent(s). The primary source of data used in this study mainly includes those collected through personal in-depth interview, case histories and medical consultation information. In particular, the effects of Early Steps, a statewide system of early intervention services focused on connecting families with professionals, and parents education to improve the development of their children through everyday activities were presented. Finally, the implications of this case study are discussed in terms of the necessity of developing early intervention systems and related services in Korea.
