이 연구는 중도ㆍ중복장애아의 의사소통 향상을 위하여 부모가 학교에서 중재기술을 습득한 후 가정에서 직접 자녀와 함께 실행할 수 있는 부모참여 놀이활동 프로그램을 구안하고, 이를 적용하여 중도ㆍ중복장애아의 언어적 측면과 사회적 측면 의사소통 기술에 미치는 영향을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 D시의 특수학교에 재학 중인 중도ㆍ중복장애아동 중 생활연령, 지능지수, 적응행동지수 등을 고려하여 세 명의 아동을 연구 대상으로 선정하고 그들의 어머니를 중재자로 삼았다. 연구 설계는 대상자간 중다 간헐 기초선 설계로 하였으며, 연구자의 모델링에 따라 중재자인 어머니가 매일의 일과 중에 가정에서 부모참여 놀이활동 프로그램을 실시하고, 주 2회 학교 개별지원실에서 연구 대상 아동과 중재자의 상호작용 장면을 녹화하여 아동의 의사소통 기술의 변화를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 부모참여 놀이활동 프로그램은 중도ㆍ중복장애아의 언어적 측면과 사회적 측면의 의사소통 기술을 향상시키는 데 긍정적 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 결과는 부모참여 놀이활동 프로그램이 중도ㆍ중복장애아의 의사소통 기술을 향상시키는 효과적인 중재전략임을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study is to design a collaborative parent involvement play activities program, and to determine its impact on verbal and social communication skills of children with severe and multiple disabilities. Three children and their three mothers from one special-education institute in city D were selected as the subjects of the study, in accordance with the chronological age, IQ(Intelligence Quotient), and adaptive behavior quotient. Upon study, collaborative parent involvement play activities program showed to have some favorable influences on improvement in verbal and social communication skills of children with severe and multiple disabilities. Such result suggests that the collaborative parent involvement play activities program is an effective method to improve communication skills of children with severe and multiple disabilities.
