본 연구는 시각장애학교 중등학생의 경제가치관을 조사ㆍ분석하여 경제교육의 효율화를 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 전국 시각장애학교 중ㆍ고등학생 206명을 대상으로 13문항의 설문지를 통해 수행되었다. 이에 대한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자신이 처해 있는 경제적 상황에 대해 현재생활의 수준이 맹학생은 ‘보통이상’, 저시력 학생은 ‘보통’수준이, 미래의 경제변화에 대해 남녀학생 모두 ‘비슷할 것임’이, 그리고 미래의 직장 취업 가능성에 대해 중ㆍ고등학생 모두 ‘약간 불안함’이 가장 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 사회의 경제적 상황에 있어서 노력과 출세의 가능성에 대해 남학생은 ‘약간 동의 안함’이, 여학생은 ‘약간 동의함’이, 그리고 중학생은 ‘모르겠음’이, 고등학생은 ‘약간 동의함’이 가장 높았고, 경제발전에 공헌한 주체에 대해 중ㆍ고등학생 그리고 통학생과 기숙사생 모두 ‘근로자’가가장 높았으며, 향후 실업문제에 대한 전망은 남녀학생 모두 ‘다소 비관적임’이 가장 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 경제 생활관에 대해 직업의 선택기준은 통학생과 기숙사생 모두 ‘능력개발’이, 직장 취업시의 영향력에 대해 선천성 시각장애학생은 ‘학교성적’이 후천성 시각장애학생은 입사시험 성적‘이 가장 높았고, 가격 비싼 상품의 질에 대해 중학생은 ‘약간 좋다’가 고등학생은 ‘잘 모르겠다’가 가장 높게 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 중심으로 선행연구와 논의 후, 후속연구에 필요한 사항을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to come up with effective economically educational resources for secondary students in schools for the visually impaired through research and analyzation over their personal economic values. Over 206 students nation wide of the visually impaired responded to a questionnaire consisting of 13 questions that can clearly states their personal views on the issue at hand. The followings of the findings from the study show that at first they were asked about how they felt on their standard of living. The blind students mainly stated that they were “above average level”, while many low-visioned students chose “average level”. Both male and female students usually believed that their economic situation would remain in similar level in the years to come, and majority of middle and high schoolers echoed voice predicting their future employment possibility by choosing “a bit uncertain”. Secondly, at questions related to economic reality of the society, the highest number of male students chose “a bit disagree” in relation to agreeing that one’s effort is the most powerful factor for one’s success. Though Middle schoolers mainly picked “don’t know” and many high schoolers picked “a bit agree”. Also, when students were asked about who made the best contribution to economic development of the society, regardless of middle and high schoolers, commuter students and those living in a dormitory all selected ‘working class’. In this prediction about unemployment issue in the future, both male and female students mainly chose ‘a bit pessimistic’. Thirdly, the questions in economic lifestyle section concerning students’ standard when choosing a career, both commuter students and those in a dormitory said, “whether it is helpful developing one’s potential and manpower’ is the top priority, and for what is the most decisive factor for employment exam.” Usually, students with congenital visual impairments picked “school grades“, while those with acquired chose ”employment exam score“. Also, when asked about how they feel the qualities of more expensive goods, many middle schoolers chose “a bit more satisfactory“, and high schoolers mainly said ‘don’t know’.
