The Degree of Parents` Satisfaction on Early Childhood Special Education according to the Characteristics of Children with Disability

이 연구는 장애유아의 조기교육환경 시설 및 정부지원에 대한 부모의 만족도를 알아보는 조사 연구이다. 연구 대상은 정신지체, 정서장애, 언어장애 조기교육기관 183명의 부모들을 대상으로 설문 조사하였다. 조사 분석한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육 환경 및 시설에 대한 부모의 만족도는 평균수준이상으로 높다. 특히 장애아 전담 어린이집의 부모만족도가 타 기관에 비해 높으나 기타 환경 및 시설에 대한 투자가 있어야겠다. 교사의 지도능력 및 자질, 전문성에 대한 부모의 만족도가 높다. 둘째, 정부의 교육비 및 정책지원에 대한 만족도 수준은 매우 낮다. 교육비를 비롯한 행재정적 지원이 강화 되어야 한다.

This study was to investigate the degree of parents` satisfaction on, education environment and facilities, educational expense and government support of early childhood special education according to the characteristics of children with Disability. It was also conducted to reflect the parents` desires on education by identifying them accurately through the parents satisfaction survey and to show basic data to prompt the government support for the improvement of quality in early childhood special education. The results of this study were summarized as follows. First, parents in Children`s House only for Handicapped was a little satisfied with education environment and facilities, and the satisfaction degree was high in order of teachers` teaching competency and qualification, children`s number of a class and the safety of facilities and equipments. Second, the degree of parents` satisfaction on educational expense support and policy of government was below the average. Parents were not satisfied with government support and had the great burden of educational expense. They wanted government to provide the expansion of educational facilities, the reinforcement of service and support of educational expense to each child with Disability. In conclusion, the degree of parents` satisfaction on early childhood special education does not reach the level of ‘a little satisfied`` yet. Therefore, variable educational intervention appropriate to children``s characteristics and parents` desires should be provided in educational institutions. And the government should provide administrational and financial support in order to improve the quality of early childhood special education.
