본 연구의 목적은 유아교사들이 자폐를 가진 유아들에게 있어서의 눈치를 어떻게 평가하는지 그와 관련하여 어떠한 경험을 가졌는지 알아보는 것이었다. 눈치는 한국사회에서 원활한 의사소통을 위하여 필요로 되어 지는 중요한 구성 요소 중의 하나이다. 이 연구는 질적 연구로서 자폐 성향을 가진 유아와의 상호작용의 경험이 있는 교사들 10명을 대상으로 하여 면접을 실시하였다. 자료의 분석 방법은 귀납적인 방법으로 각 문장에서 의미하는 내용에 따라 분석이 이루어졌다. 연구 결과 유아교사들은 자폐를 가진 유아들이 특정 상황들에서 눈치를 보았으며, 관심을 가지는 상황이나 분야에서는 눈치를 빠르게 작용하였다고 한다. 본 연구 결과는 자폐를 가진 유아들의 의사소통 영역에서 가지고 있는 능력을 재평가에 대한 필요성을 시사 하였으며, 그들이 가지고 있는 그러나 발견되지 않은 능력들의 발견의 중요성을 나타내어 주었다.

The purpose of this study is to explore how educators assess noonchi in children labeled with autism and what kinds of experiences regarding noonchi they have. Noonchi is one the important components of smooth communication in Korean society. This is a qualitative research study for which 10 preschool teachers who have experiences with students labeled with autism have been interviewed. Collected interview data has been analyzed inductively and sentence by sentence. The results of this study, indicating that students labeled with autism developed noonchi in the relationships with their teachers, are meaningful. Noonchi is developed in these students at a similar level to their peers and in the particular areas that these students are interested in. These findings suggest that the competence in communication of students labeled with autism should be reconsidered and supported proactively, and that they should be educated using new educational approaches.
