이 연구의 목적은 교사들의 경험으로부터 자폐를 가진 유아들을 교육함에 있어 실제 효과를 거두었던 교육적 접근법들을 탐색해 보는 데 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 자폐를 가진 유아를 교육해본 경험이 있는 교사 12명을 대상으로 질적 연구방법에 해당하는 면담법을 이용하여 실시하였다. 면담법을 통해 얻어진 내용을 바탕으로 이를 주제에 따라 범주화하고, 범주화된 주제들의 의미들을 분석하여 결론을 도출해냈다. 그 결과 유아교사들이 자폐를 가진 유아들을 교육할 때는 교사중심으로 끌고 가기 보다는 유아들이 심리적으로 편안함을 느끼게 하였을 때 학습의 효과가 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 자폐를 가진 유아는 그 작업에 흥미를 느낄수록, 좋아하는 주제일수록 그리고 사전에 경험이 있는 것일수록 학습에 능동적인 모습을 보였다. 본 연구결과는 자폐를 가진 유아들을 교육할 때는 무엇보다 그들의 흥미를 고려하고, 그들에게 다양한 경험을 제공하는 것이 교육의 효과를 높일 수 있다는 것을 보여준다.

The purpose of this study is to explore how educators in preschools for children labeled with autism experience educational approach for children labeled with autism. This is a qualitative research study for which 12 preschool teachers who have experiences with students labeled with autism have been interviewed. Collected interview data has been analyzed according to study questions. The results of this study, indicate that children labeled with autism learn better when they feel comfortable, when they are interested in and when. Also, they can learn better when they have prior experiences before they learn. These findings suggest that it is important for educators to equip the competence to understand children labeled with autism and recognize their interests and their conditions that they like.
