본 연구는 장애학생 고등교육 지원이 효과적으로 이루어지기 위한 앞으로의 발전 방향을 경력개발 프로그램을 중심으로 모색하였다. 이를 위해 미국 내 대표적인 고등교육 지원 프로그램인 STEM과 TRIO 프로그램을 분석하고, 국내 장애대학생을 대상으로 경력개발 프로그램에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 연구 방법으로 미국의 STEM과 TRIO 프로그램에서 장애학생을 대상으로 하는 고등교육 지원 프로그램의 구성요소에 대해 내용분석을 실시하였다. 그리고 국내 72명의 장애대학생을 대상으로 경력개발 프로그램에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, STEM 프로그램의 주요 구성요소는 멘토링, 캠프, 네크워크, 전문가 개발, 인턴십, 현장체험, 기관 협력 등이었으며, TRIO 프로그램은 멘토링, 튜터링, 장애상담, 인턴십, 네트워크 등이 주요 요소인 것으로 나타났다. 설문조사 결과, 장애대학생을 대상으로 하는 경력개발 프로그램의 현재 인식 수준은 전반적으로 낮았으며, 각 프로그램들에 대해 장애학생들의 요구 수준은 매우 높은 것으로나타났다. 조사결과를 토대로 하여 장애학생 고등교육 지원 프로그램의 발전 방향을 멘토링, 상담과 학업지원, 현장체험, 지원협력 체계의 측면으로 제시하였다.

The purpose of the study is to identify future directions on support program for college students with disabilities. The contents of two outstanding programs, STEM and TRIO in the United States, were analyzed to find out the main factors and strategies for developing effective program. In addition, a survey of seventy two college students with disabilities was carried out to investigate their perceptions of current status and needs about career development program. The results showed the critical success factors such as mentoring, tutoring, internship, and networking in STEM and TRIO program. Also, the results of survey revealed that students with disabilities rated low level of satisfaction with current programs and they needed a variety of career development programs. Finally, the results suggested future directions of career development programs in terms of four dimensions, which are mentoring, counseling and learning support, experience in the real settings, and collaboration system.
