본 연구의 목적은 파킨슨병 환자를 대상으로 최근 12개월 동안 낙상에 대한 경험이 통합형 파킨슨병 평가척도의 ``운동검사`` 항목의 점수에 차이를 주는지 알아보고, 통합형 파킨슨병 평가척도의 ``운동검사`` 항목을 이용하여 파킨슨병 환자의 낙상을 예견할 수 있는지 알아보기 위함이었다. 연구 대상자는 특발성 파킨슨병 환자로 진단받은 31명의 환자로 최근 12개월 동안 낙상에 경험이 있는 환자는 15명(낙상군) 이었으며, 경험이 없는 환자는 16명(비-낙상군) 이었다. 연구결과 낙상군이 비-낙상군에 비하여 통합형 파킨슨병 평가척도의 ``운동검사`` 항목의 점수가 유의하게 높았다. 또한 통합형 파킨슨병 평가척도의 ``운동검사`` 항목이 낙상을 예견하는데 적합하고 타당한지를 알아보기 위하여 임상에서 널리 사용되는 버그균형검사와 상관관계를 분석한 결과 유의한 역상관관계를 보여주었다. 따라서 통합형 파킨슨병 평가척도의 ``운동검사`` 항목은 파킨슨병 환자의 낙상을 예견하는데 적절한 평가도구로 사료되며, 파킨슨병 환자가 낙상을 경험하기 이전에 낙상위험을 예견하는데 적절히 활용할 것을 제언하는 바이다.

The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of falls experience on scores of unified Parkinson`s disease rating scale-motor examination (UPDRS-UM) in individuals with Parkinson`s disease for predicting fall risks. A total of 31 idiopathic Parkinson`s disease patients (15 of falls group, 16 of non-falls group) were recruited from four public local centers in this study. The UPDRS-UM and Berg balance test (BBT) were assessed in this study. The scores of UPDRS-UM increased significantly in the falls group compared to that non-falls group. The UPDRS-UM showed a good negative correlation with the BBT. The results of this study suggest that the UPDRS-UM is one of good predictors of falls risk in individuals with Parkinson`s disease, and the UPDRS-UM will use for predictor of fall risk for Parkinson`s disease.
