본 연구는 장애인들의 입장에서 주로 접근하는 학문인 장애학에 관련된 논문들이 통합교육을 어떻게 다루고 있는지를 알아보기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위해 장애학을 주로 다루는 4개 외국학술지들에서 최근 10년(2004-2013)간 발표된 31편의 논문들을 검토하였다. 문헌검토결과 통합교육에 관한 주제들은 통합교육의 현실, 통합교육에 관한 교육자의 인식, 통합교육의 실천, 통합교육의 경향, 통합교육과 분리교육에 대한 논의와 같이 5가지로 나타났다. 장애학을 통한 통합교육에 관한 연구는 통합교육의 실행에 관한 관심으로부터 통합교육의 현실에 관한 관심으로 이동하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 장애학에 관한 연구들은 미국, 영국과 같이 특수교육과 통합교육이 발전된 국가들에서 많이 이루어지고 있음을 알 수있다. 국내에서도 장애학을 포함하여 다양한 접근들을 적극적으로 받아들임으로써 통합교육의 발전을 위해 노력할 필요가 있다. 또한 국내에서도 통합교육에 대한 연구들과 실천들이 활발히 이루어지고 있기 때문에 통합교육의 현실이나 통합교육의 경향 등 통합교육에 대한 전반적인 고찰에 관한 연구들도 많이 이루어져야 하겠다.

This study explored how articles related to disability studies which mainly approach in terms of people with disabilities discuss inclusive education. For the purpose of this study, it reviewed 31 articles which have been published in four foreign journals related to disability studies during the last 10 years(2004-2013). The results of literature review showed that themes of inclusive education could be divided as five themes such as the reality of inclusive education, educators’ views about inclusive education, the practices of inclusive education, the trends of inclusive education, discussion on inclusive education and segregated education. This study shows that studies through disability studies have moved from the interests on the practice on inclusive education to the reality of inclusive education. In addition, studies on inclusive education have been often conducted in such countries as United States and United Kingdom with a lot of development in special education. South Korea need to actively accept various approaches, including disability studies, in order to develop inclusive education. In addition, as South Korea have conducted many studies and practices on inclusive education, it needs to do many studies on overall explorations on inclusive education such as the reality of inclusive education and the trends of inclusive education.
