본 연구는 특수학교에 근무하는 특수교사 159명을 대상으로 우편 설문조사를 실시하여 보조공학 교육연수에 대한 실태와 요구를 알아보았다. 연구 결과에 의하면 응답자의 60% 이상이 보조공학 교육연수 경험이 없었고, 대부분의 응답자들이 학교 현장에서 보조공학의 활용과 자신감이 낮다고 응답하였다. 그러나 교육연수 경험이 있는 교사가 없는 교사에 비해 활용 경험과 수준, 정보 및 지식 접근성 수준, 그리고 특수교육지원센터의 지원 만족도에서 높은 수준을 보였고, 통계적으로도 유의한 차이가 있었다. 보조공학 교육연수에 대한 다양한 요구를 통해 많은 특수학교 교사가 특수교육에 보조공학을 통합시키기 위한 지식과 기술을 증진시키고자 하는 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 특수교사의 요구에 맞는 교육 방법과 내용으로 지속적이며 체계적인 교육연수 프로그램을 마련하여 제공할 것을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of training in assistive technology(AT) and confidence level of special educators in providing AT. Also, to determine the perceived adequacy of previous training in AT, specific training needs, and preferred methods and contents of training. One hundred fifty nine special educators responded to a survey questionnaire mailed to a random sample of teachers of the all special schools. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS statistics program to conduct frequency analysis and the chi-squared test. As a result of this study, more than 60% of the respondents didn’t have a chance to get training in AT and the most number of respondents show low level of utilization and confidence in using of school setting. But the respondents who were received AT training reported having a higher level of utilization, access of information, and satisfaction with support and there was a statistically difference between received respondents and none respondents(p < 0.05). Many special educators don’t have the skills and knowledge to integrate into the learning activities and would like to increase their skills from various AT training. Our findings indicate that special educators need more opportunities for training of AT. For effective application of AT in schools, there should be continuous and systematically AT training program. Also, methods and contents of AT training program need to be flexible and various to meet their request.
