본 연구는 뇌성마비아동의 상지기능이 어머니의 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아 보고자 실시하였다. 연구 대상은 15명의 뇌성마비아동과 어머니를 대상으로 하였고, 대상 아동에게 상지기능 훈련 프로그램을 시행하기 전과 후에 아동의 상지기능과 어머니의 양육스트레스를 측정하고 연구 대상의 일반적인 특성과 사회환경적 요인을 조사하여 얻은 결과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 상지기능 훈련을 시행하기 전과 후의 아동의 상지기능은 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 보였고, 어머니의 양육스트레스도 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 결과적으로, 상지기능 훈련 프로그램을 통해 아동의 상지기능은 향상되고 어머니의 양육스트레스는 감소되는 것으로 나타났고, 상지기능이 향상되면 양육스트레스는 감소한다는 것을 알 수있었다. 또한 어머니의 양육 스트레스는 연구 대상의 일반적 특성들과 상관관계가 없었지만, 사회환경적 요인들과는 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 사회환경적 요인이 양육스트레스에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 어머니의 양육스트레스를 감소시키기 위해서는 아동의 상지기능을 향상시킬 수 있는 프로그램의 적용하여 아동의 기능수준을 향상시켜야 할 것이다. 또한, 양육시간을 줄이는 것과 같이 사회환경적 요인의 조절이 필요할 것이라 사료되며, 사회환경적 요인의 개선을 위한 제도적 뒷받침이 필요할 것이라 사료된다. 앞으로의 연구에서 뇌성마비아동 어머니의 양육스트레스를 감소시키기 위한 다양한 방안에 대한 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

This study was conducted to see if an improvement in the function of the upper extremities in children with cerebral palsy has an effect on a mother’s parenting stress. Fifteen children with cerebral palsy and their mothers were recruited for this study. The upper extremity function and parenting stress were examined before and after upper extremity function training. In addition, general characteristics of children and mothers and their social environmental factors were investigated to see the effectiveness of those on parenting stress. As a result, the upper extremity function training program affected children’s upper extremity function and mother’s parenting stress, and parenting stress decreased when children’s upper extremity function improved. Social environmental factors had an effect on parenting stress while there was no effect of general characteristics of children and mothers on parenting stress found. Therefore, in order to decrease a mother’s parenting stress, there is need of a program that improves a child upper extremity function and adjusts social environmental factors such as the amount of parenting time. Further study is needed to find various ways of decreasing a mother’s parenting stress.
